Rutgers vs USC Prediction 10/25/24

Here comes the 4-3 Rutgers Scarlet Knights marching into the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to play the 3-4 USC Trojans. A modern-day “clash of the titans” battle in the Big 10. It just sounds so weird to say Big X, but I love it more and more every day. It even sounds weirder that Rutgers is 14th in the conference while USC is hanging out at 16th. Both teams are 2-0 in conference play, and both badly need this win. Just a hot second ago, Rutgers was 4-0 for the first time ever and USC was voted in at 5th in the Big X preseason poll. My, how the tides have changed! Now they are both just fighting to be bowl eligible at hoping the head coaches will keep their jobs next season. There is a lot on the line, and a big line, so let’s sort this game out.

Can Rutgers Win Tonight?

This is going to be Rutgers third game on the road this season. They have a 1-1 record. Their only loss came in a close one, on a dropped TD pass to Nebraska. Athan Kaliakmanis is under center for the Scarlet Knights. He averages 191 yards passing with a 53.3% completion percentage, has 8 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. His passer rating is 119.3 and ranks 73rd amongst all QB’s in college football. The leading rusher on the team is Kyle Monangai. He averages an amazing 22 yards per carry with 10 touchdowns on the season. If I were Rutgers, I would just hand this guy the rock every time. He is amazing. He is obviously the key to winning this ballgame. There is no other angle or answer.

  • Rutgers is 0-2 after a loss

Can USC Win Tonight!

USC is not the team that has to travel across 3 time zones. They are not the team that when this game kicks off it is 1am in their hometown of New Jersey. USC caught a big break with that one. Miller Moss is an impressive and efficient passer. He averages 279.1 yards per game, has a 64.4% completion percentage with 14 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. He has a better quarterback rating than Athan at 134.3 and ranks 12th in the nation.

  • The Home team has covered the spread in USC’s last 6 games
  • 8 of USC las 9 October games have gone OVER the total
  • USC has won 12 of its last 13 against non-ranked opponents.

Rutgers vs. USC (-14) – O/U 58 – Free Prediction for 10/25/2024

Honestly, I’m giving Rutgers about a 1% chance at winning this game outright. So of course, the question is will USC cover this -14 spread? I say, yes! There is a gigantic mismatch at the quarterback position. USC is 3-0 against the spread this season at home, and that was vs decent teams like Penn State and Wisconsin. The efficiency numbers are flashing big and bright! USC’s overall efficiency is 76.3 (100 being best) and Rutgers only 47.6. Yikes!!! Oh, and one thing that I forgot to mention. Injuries. The injury bug has hit Rutgers hard. I just don’t think they have the personnel to compete. Moss already completes about 26 passes per game compared to 14.9 on the other side. Who is going to be able to stop him? A couple of stops vs Monangai to get them in 3rd and long situations and this will be an easy cover. Sit back and enjoy!
