This is David with Tonyspicks.com, here with a two-team college football parlay for Friday, October 18, 2024. We have a four-game college football slate tonight, featuring some pretty decent matchups, so let’s jump into it.
Game 1: Purdue vs. Oregon
The first game we’re looking at is Purdue hosting Oregon. Oregon is coming off a thrilling victory against Ohio State last week, winning by just one point. However, they’re on the road here, and I’m actually going to take Purdue plus 28.5 points. I know the Boilermakers have been awful this season, getting dominated in almost every game, but we saw some life from them late last week against Illinois. They started a new quarterback who threw for just under 300 yards and a couple of scores, and I think they can have a little bit of success in this game.
I expect Oregon to come out a bit flat; it’s a tough spot to get motivated after that huge win over Ohio State, especially when they’re playing a struggling Purdue team on the road. I think Oregon might get off to a slow start, pick things up, but won’t blow the game wide open. In the second half, once they’re up a few scores, they may take their foot off the gas, with Illinois on the schedule next week. There’s just no reason for Oregon to run up the score, especially considering they haven’t done so in the previous two games before Ohio State. They beat UCLA and Michigan State by about 21 points each, not covering anywhere near 28.5 in either of those matchups. So, I think Purdue can keep this one close, and I’ll take the points with the Boilermakers.
Game 2: BYU vs. Oklahoma State
The second game we’re looking at is BYU hosting Oklahoma State. BYU has been one of the greatest stories in the country this year. They’re fantastic, with a defense playing lights out, and they’ve scored at least 34 points in four straight games. I’ve been saying it for years: BYU’s home-field advantage is real. It is not easy to play there, especially at night, and especially on a Thursday or Friday. I’m going to take BYU minus 9.5.
Oklahoma State is coming off a bye, which they desperately needed, as they’ve struggled all season. They’ve lost by double digits in two straight games, giving up a ton of points, and I don’t see how that changes here. They’re making a switch at the quarterback spot, but this BYU defense is playing at a high level. The offense is performing well, and they have the home-field advantage. I’ll take the Cougars minus 9.5.
