Hi everybody, it’s Rodd, Ron, and Bo coming back at you with Game 3 of the WNBA Finals—New York Liberty vs. Minnesota Lynx!
The series is tied 1-1, and now the venue shifts to Minnesota. The line is at -3 in most books, in favor of the Liberty, with the total set at 160.5. What do you think, Ron?
New York Liberty vs Minnesota Lynx Prediction 10/16/24 – Ron’s Take
Oh baby, we’ve got a series now, don’t we? It’s 1-1, and we’re going back to Minnesota. You know, Minnesota is 16-6 in the first half, so I’m going to look at Minnesota +1.5 in the first half only. I’m not sure how the full game is going to turn out, though I do like New York to win. There are so many trends that say either team could win. I think you just cash in the first half and sit back and watch the second half.
Bo’s Take
Yeah man, I agree with Ron on that play. I think this is going to be an awesome series, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it unfolds. But in this game, I’m going back to the early part of the season. These teams played five times, and Minnesota won the first quarter in four of those games—three of which were on the road in New York. Now, in the first two playoff games, they did lose the first quarter, 32-19 in one, and by 10 points in the other. But with them being back at home in front of their crowd, I think they’ll be rocking and ready to go. I don’t expect them to come out slow this time. I like Minnesota Lynx first-quarter moneyline at +110.
Rodd’s Take
Just as Ron said, picking a side in this one is going to be tough. There are trends for both teams. For example, Minnesota is 17-2 after covering two out of three, while New York is 7-0 after winning by 10+ points. There’s also a coach trend here for the Liberty, with their coach being 9-0 in this spot. It’s going to be a close, tight game. But what has been consistent between these two teams is the over in the first half. I’m going to keep riding that.
The first half over is 7-3 for both teams over the last 10 games. The books are starting to guard against it, moving the line up to 80, but I think we easily get to 85+. We’ve seen a 50-point first quarter in both of the first two games, and that has helped us hit the over in the first half. So, I’m taking the over in the first half again in this one. The side is going to be tough to call—I think the Liberty will get the win, as Ron said—but it’s definitely going to be close. I’m really looking forward to watching this one.
