Free NHL Total Pick: New Jersey Devils vs Carolina Hurricanes Prediction 10/15/24
We’ve got the Devils on the road against the Hurricanes. The Devils are already 4-1, and the Hurricanes have only played one game against the Lightning. Their second game got postponed due to the weather issues down there—horrible time for them. This total is set at 6.5.
The Devils are coming in on the second game of a back-to-back, so I expect Devon Levi to be in net for this one, and he’s pretty solid. He’s 1-1 so far with a save percentage of 0.929, which is really good. On the other side, Tampa Bay got hammered by the Hurricanes, but Frederik Andersen was in net for Carolina, and he only gave up two goals. The score was 4-1, but two of those goals were empty-netters as they were trying to battle back and score.
So, what we’re looking at here is the under 6.5. I know people might think, “Oh, four goals!” and the Devils average about three goals a game, but two of those goals came from empty nets, so I wouldn’t put too much stock into that. We’re going to go ahead and ride the under 6.5 as my free winner.
