Detroit Tigers vs Kansas City Royals 7/19/2023 Picks Predictions Previews
To face Ryan Yarbrough and the Kansas City Royals, Eduardo Rodriguez, and the Detroit Tigers will travel to Kauffman Stadium this Wednesday.
The Detroit Tigers entered their contest with the Kansas City Royals on the heels of a painful away loss to the Seattle Mariners last Sunday, which ended with a final score of 2-0.
Over the previous few years, the Detroit Tigers haven’t been a World Series-caliber team, much less a squad capable of earning a wildcard place, and this season won’t be any different.
The Tigers hold the third-place spot in the AL Central with a 42-51 overall record. Despite a recent setback to the Mariners, the Tigers still prevailed in the 2-1 series and have won four of their previous six games.
In the first game of their series against the Royals, the Tigers outlasted Kansas City 3-2 thanks to a late-morning comeback.
With two outs and the bases loaded, designated hitter Kerry Carpenter walked in Detroit’s first run before right fielder Matt Vierling’s two-run double gave Detroit the lead in the eighth inning.
Alex Lange, the closer, earned his 15th save of the year by pitching a perfect ninth inning.
Following the All-Star break, Detroit has won three of its last four games, frantically attempting to maintain its position atop the AL Central standings.
The Tigers start their game against the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night just five games behind first-place despite being nine games below 0.500.
Since the break, the Tigers’ pitching has been outstanding, allowing just two runs per game. Eduardo Rodriguez will receive the ball on Wednesday for his 14th start of the year.
Rodriguez has a stellar 2.70 ERA and 1.00 WHIP while going 5-5. He just won against Seattle on Friday, pitching five innings while allowing three hits and two runs. The 30-year-old has a big-league record of 74–49 and a 4.04 ERA.

Detroit Tigers vs Kansas City Royals Predictions 7/19/2023
Following a dominant victory against the most excellent team in the league, the Tampa Bay Rays, this past Sunday at home, the Kansas City Royals and Bobby Witt Jr. will take the field against Javier Baez and the Detroit Tigers.
The final score was 8-4. Despite their recent victory, the Royals lost that series 3-1.
After winning their first World Series since 1985 in 2015, the Kansas City Royals haven’t been very good lately. The Royals have had a difficult few seasons, and this one will be among their worst in a very long time.
With an overall record of 27-68, the Royals are now dead last in the AL Central, and one wins better than the league’s worst team, the Oakland Athletics.
It is safe to assume that the Royals are playing for pride, even while Detroit is fighting to stay in the race. The Royals’ 3-2 loss on Monday was their ninth in their previous 11 games, moving them 21 out of first place in the AL Central.
In place of the injured Salvador Perez, catcher Freddy Fermin went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored on Monday, while first baseman Nick Pratto also scored a run.
After starter Jordan Lyles pitched six scoreless innings, reliever Taylor Clarke (1-4) was given the loss after giving up three earned runs in the top of the eighth inning.
One of Kansas City’s most effective hitters, Perez, left Sunday’s game against the Rays with a Grade 1+ hamstring strain, which was later determined to be the cause of his absence.
Although it’s conceivable Perez won’t end up on the injured list, his condition for Wednesday’s game should be watched because he is now listed as day-to-day.
With 15 home runs, 40 RBI, and 38 runs scored, Perez is batting.258. He is only behind Bobby Witt Jr. for the team lead in those areas.
Overall offensive statistics for Kansas City as a team are comparable to those of Detroit. In terms of runs scored per game (3.7), batting average (.232), OPS (.664), and home runs (82), the Royals are among the lowest three teams.
With 81 steals this season, Kansas City is sixth in the league. Witt Jr. has the most steals with 27.
Ryan Yarbrough will make his fifth start and 12th overall appearance on the pitch this year. Yarbrough has a record of 2-4 this season, a 5.29 ERA, and a 1.27 WHIP.
On July 9, he faced the Cleveland Guardians and pitched six innings of one-run baseball to get the victory. The 31-year-old’s record in six seasons in the major leagues is 7-6 with a 4.38 ERA.
Detroit Tigers vs. Kansas City Royals. The Detroit Tigers are the MLB’s prediction for this game. The two worst players in MLB will square off in what will be nothing less than a full-fledged fight.
