The St. Louis Cardinals will go against the Washington Nationals in MLB action in Nationals Park, DC, on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 4:05 PM ET.
The St. Louis Cardinals team will be one of the most disappointing teams in baseball in 2023. The Cardinals are last in the division after winning the NL Central in 2022.
The Cardinals defeated the Nationals 8-6 on Monday night to earn their third consecutive victory.

Montgomery earned his fourth victory of the year after pitching seven innings and giving up four hits and a run. With two home runs, Dylan Carlson led the Cardinals’ offense.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Cardinals will hand the ball to Miles Mikolas to finish the series against the Nationals. In 15 starts this season, Mikolas has a 4-4 record, including five solid outings.

St. Louis Cardinals vs Washington Nationals Predictions 6/21/2023
As the calendar turns to summer, the Nationals are again in last place in the NL East Division, continuing the long and arduous reconstruction in Washington.
The Nats lost the first game of this series 8-6 on Monday night, their sixth defeat in their previous seven matches. The Cardinals’ offense defeated the Nationals on Tuesday night, losing their fifth consecutive match.
The Nationals’ pitching staff allowed 14 hits and nine runs in the defeat.
In the series finale against St. Louis, Trevor Williams will receive the ball from the Nationals. In 14 starts this season, Williams is 3-4, with two of those starts being strong ones.
Williams has a 6.9 K/9 rate, a 1.41 WHIP, and an ERA of 4.50. Williams made seven starts at home, going 1-2 while averaging fewer than five innings per start.
He has a slightly lower K/9 rate of 6.2, a slightly lower WHIP of 1.38, and a slightly higher ERA of 4.59. Williams lost against the Marlins 6-5 after pitching 4.1 innings and allowing seven hits and five runs.

The Nationals have 67 save opportunities, with 67 holds and 16 missed saves. They used 218 bullpen pitchers this season and are presently placed 26th in the league
with a save percentage of 52.9%. In 34 save opportunities, Washington used bullpen pitchers, and they recorded 18 saves.
- The Washington Nationals are 0-5 SU in their last five matches.

- The Washington Nationals are 0-9 SU in their last nine matches at home.
St. Louis Cardinals vs. Washington Nationals The MLB pick for this game is the St. Louis Cardinals. Williams, the starter for the Nats, had difficulties staying in games late, especially at home.
Williams won’t make it through the fifth inning in this game against a run-producing Cardinals lineup, in my opinion. The Cardinals’ propensity for hitting deep balls is another factor in my preference for them.
Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, and other players should put up some numbers in this game because the Nats’ pitching staff has allowed 50 home runs in 37 home games this season.
With a lower ERA on the road than at home, Mikolas is the more dependable of the two starts.
Despite being in the last spot, the Cards recently played better baseball than the other club. The St. Louis Cardinals will win by a predicted score of 8-3.
