The Baltimore Orioles are returning home for the opening match of an AL three-game series at home against the Texas Rangers on Friday evening.


Baltimore raised their overall standing to 33-17 after winning its last two contests played, recorded 15-8 when playing at home, and placed second in the tough AL East with 3.5 games behind the league’s best Tampa Bay in first place.


The Orioles posted five victories in the recent six games, including the last two installments of a three-game series against the Pirates that gave Pittsburgh a 2-1 lead in winning the series.


Last night, Baltimore held the New York Yankees to eight shutout frames and gave up one run on three hits in the final inning while scoring three on seven, resulting in a 3-1 road triumph for the Orioles.



Left fielder Austin Hays batted an average of.308, while center fielder Cedric Mullins added a team-high 39 RBI and 50 hits in leading Baltimore.


First baseman Ryan Mountcastle led home runs with 11, and catcher Adley Rutschman pitched in an on-base percentage of.400 for the Orioles.


The Baltimore Orioles management will counter with righty Grayson Rodriguez to start a three-game series on Friday evening.


The right-handed starter is 2-1 on the year with a 6.21 ERA and 1.64 WHIP and has fanned out 50 batters in 42.0 innings of work.


Baltimore sidelined four players for various reasons. Starting pitcher Dillon Tate (undisclosed) is on a 15-day lL status, and relief pitcher John Means is on a 60-day lL status.


Shortstop Ramon Urias is on a 10-day DL, and center fielder Cedric Mullins (personal) has not been included in the lineup since Thursday versus the New York Yankees.
