Thanks to the Padres, Yu Darvish will start the series’ first game. Last time out, Darvish struggled a bit, giving up four runs, including one home run, in 5.1 innings against the Royals.

This season, San Diego is disappointed. Many expected them to be among the better squads, but they struggled to get going.

Before this series, the Padres lost two of three games against the Red Sox and four out of their previous five series, including a three-game road sweep by the rival Dodgers. They won 7-0 on Sunday to prevent the sweep.

The pitching staff accumulated a team WHIP of 1.25 and a K/BB ratio of 2.47. The Padres’ pitchers are eighth in MLB with 190 runs scored overall, and 53 home runs allowed.

San Diego gave up 182 earned runs and 362 base hits (7.8 per 9 innings). The Padres’ staff struck out 398 batters this season, and their team’s earned run average is 3.92, ranking them 10th in MLB.

San Diego Padres vs Washington Nationals Predictions 5/23/2023

Despite not scoring many runs, Juan Soto is still getting on base, as shown by his 1.04 OPS for the month. The 24-year-old slugger has a .871 OPS and 21 RBIs this season despite being inconsistent while playing for the Padres.

Last year, Soto had a 6-for-25 performance with three RBIs versus his former Nationals. On the IL, Manny Machado arrived. The Washington Nationals rank fifth in the NL East.

MacKenzie On Tuesday night, Gore will take the mound. Gore’s most recent appearance against the Marlins could have been better; he allowed four runs, including one home run, in 5.1 innings and was given the loss.

With a respectable 3.69 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, and a 3-3 record in 46.1 innings pitched this season; the young left-hander showed promise.

Gore, acquired in the Juan Soto trade, pitched for San Diego last year and posted a 4.50 ERA and 1.47 WHIP.

The Nationals’ six-game homestand continues. After being swept by the Marlins on the road, Washington bounced back by defeating the Tigers twice in three games over the weekend, thanks to 17 runs scored by the offense.

They will experience losing streaks because they are a young squad in a rebuilding season. They now have a ten-game record of 4-6.

  • The Washington Nationals are 2-4 SU in their last six matches.
  • The total went UNDER in 5 of Washington’s last six matches against San Diego.
  • The total went OVER in 4 of Washington’s last five matches at home.

San Diego Padres vs Washington Nationals. The MLB pick for this game is the San Diego Padres. With 214 runs surrendered thus far this season, the Washington pitching staff has a club ERA of 4.35 (199 earned runs yielded).

They gave up 53 home runs and ranked 16th in the league in runs allowed per nine innings (4.67). This season, the team WHIP and FIP for the Nationals are 1.415 and 4.67, respectively. They now have a 7.40 K/BB ratio (338 strikeouts vs. 171 bases on balls). They have 412 total hits allowed as a staff, which ranks them 22nd in the league.

Lane Thomas had a successful month at the restaurant. He has eight hits in his previous six games and a fantastic OPS in May of.977.

The outfielder, who is 27 years old, has 23 RBIs and a.787 OPS so far this season. Thomas struggled against the Padres last year, going just 5 for 27 with one RBI.

Despite having Yu Darvish on the mound, the San Diego Padres could have been their best. This year, Darvish was the most dependable starter for the Padres.

In two of his most recent three starts, he had two runs or fewer, including just one run in six innings against the Dodgers. Only two of the Nationals’ last six games ended in victories.

Moreover, starting pitcher Mackenzie Gore for the Nationals is a talented young pitcher, but he struggled with consistency, posting a poor 4.66 ERA in his four outings this month.

He only stays short in games, having pitched 5.1 innings or less in three of his last four starts, and the Nationals’ bullpen is unreliable, coming in 22nd with a terrible 4.30 ERA for the year.

The Padres will win to a predicted score of 7-2.
