The San Francisco Giants will continue their home defense and go for a sweep with a victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday afternoon.

 

San Francisco improved to 19-23 overall and 12-10 when playing at home following two straight home triumphs but stayed in fourth place in the NL West with 7.5 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first place and posted a run difference of -23 this year.

 

The Giants split their last six contests played following two successive wins over the Phillies including the recent 4-3 home triumph last night.  

          

SF’s 2B Thairo Estrada batted an average of .310 and drove in 49 hits in leading the Giants while LF LaMonte Wade Jr. contributed a team-high on-base percentage at .427.

 

RF Michael Conforto led the Giants in home runs made with eight and 3B J.D. Davis chipped in 22 runs batted in this season.

 

The Giants management will counter with Sean Manaea to take on the mound to start the closing game of a series on Wednesday. MAnaea is 1-2 on the season with a 7.96 ERA and fanned out 31 hitters in his starts.
