The NHL and Atlantic’s best Boston Bruins are back on the road for the conclusion of their regular season road campaign by taking on the Montreal Canadiens in a division duel at Ball Centre in Montreal, Quebec, on Thursday evening.

 

Boston enters this competition as the league’s best team with 64 wins while looking for their eighth straight win following a 5-2 home win over the Washington Capitals on Tuesday night.

 

Relief goalie Jeremy Swayman was great at the pipes after stopping six shots tried against him in just less than 10 minutes on the ice after taking over the net from Linus Ullmark who earned a save percentage of .905 following two goals conceded on 21 shots in 50 minutes of goaltending.

 

Left-winger Brad Marchand led the Bruins’ attack with one goal and two assists while LW Tomas Nosek added one goal with one assist in the victory.      

 

The Boston Bruins feature an offense that is one of the league’s best averaging 3.64 goals on 33.1 shots per contest while their defense has been impressive, limiting their opponents to an average of only 2.1 goals per outing.

 

Right-wingman David Pastrnak carried the load for the Bruins with a team-high 111 total points and 51 assists while also scoring a team-leading 60 goals on 404 total shots made for the season. 

  

The Boston Bruins declared five skaters on the injured list for the rest of the regular season. Center David Krejci will be OUT Thursday versus Montreal while Center Tomas Nosek (illness) is questionable on Thursday.

 

GK Linus Ullmark (lower body) is downgraded to OUT status on Thursday while LW Nick Foligno (lower body) is on injured reserve status and Defenseman Derek Forbort (lower body) is out for the regular season.

The Montreal Canadiens are going back home for their final homestand this season while looking to snap a two-game losing streak when hosting the Boston Bruins on Thursday.

 

Montreal lost six of the last seven contests played including the recent 2-4 road loss to the New York Islanders yesterday.

 

The Canadiens have already been eliminated from the postseason competition and they will be ending the regular season with a battle against the league’s best Boston Bruins.

 

GK Sam Montembeault was horrible at the goal with a save percentage of .848 after giving away seven goals on 46 shots tried at him in less than 64 minutes of defending the net.

 

Defenseman Jonathan Kovacevic netted the only goal scored for Montreal in the losing effort.   

     

The Canadiens’ offense has been mediocre after posting an average of 2.76 goals on 27.3 shots per outing while the defense has been terrible conceding an average of 3.70 goals on almost 34 shots per match.

 

Center Nick Suzuki led the scoring for Montreal with 64 total points for the year while also the leading set-up man with a team-leading 40 assists.

 

Right-wingman Cole Caufield recorded a team-high 26 goals on 158 total shots made for the year.    

The Montreal Canadiens have been battered with injuries after reporting 13 skaters with different illnesses and health problems.

 

The injured skaters include four defensemen, three centers,  five wingmen, and one goalkeeper.

 

Six were declared out for the season, three were out indefinitely, three were put on injured reserve status, and the rest were declared in the recovery stage.
