San Diego State’s journey to the final was a nail-biting one, as they were forced to come from behind to secure victory against Florida Atlantic.

 

Despite trailing by 14 points in the second half, the Aztecs refused to give up and chipped away at the lead. With just nine seconds left on the clock and down by one point, Coach Dutcher decided against taking his final timeout.

 

Lamont Butler then dribbled up the court and hit a game-winning jump shot from the right wing as time expired, securing the Aztecs’ place in the championship game.

Even in the closest game, their Final Four matchup against Miami, the Huskies never looked in danger of losing. They led by as many as 20 points and never trailed in the game.

 

The team’s top performers came to play, with big man Adama Sanogo leading the way with 21 points and 10 rebounds, and guard Jordan Hawkins contributing 13 points and three three-pointers in the win.

 

Sanogo has been the driving force behind UConn’s success this season, leading the team in both scoring and rebounding with 17.2 PPG and 7.6 RPG, respectively.

 

He and Hawkins were both First-Team All-Big East performers, with Sanogo showcasing his dominance in the tournament by scoring in double figures in every game and recording a double-double in points and rebounds in three of their five games.
