Houston Astros vs St. Louis Cardinals 3/16/2023 Picks Predictions Previews
The Houston Astros will meet with the St. Louis Cardinals in MLB action in Roger Dean Stadium Jupiter, FL, on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 1:05 PM ET. A title defense is never simple.
It’s not Alex Bregman, who might have a great comeback year. Last year, Jose Abreu sacrificed power for a. 304-hitting average. He’ll likely sink beneath.
One Astros player will surpass this milestone. Although there may be some health worries with Michael Brantley’s return, he is capable of hitting.300.
Brantley surpassed this mark throughout his final three years with the Astros. Following an injury-plagued season, he ended last year with a.288 average.
Compared to some of the other key Astros players, Brantley won’t participate in as many matches. After more than 400 at-bats, he’ll give them a fantastic final appearance with a batting average over.300.
- The Houston Astros are 2-3 in their last 5 matches against the spread.
- The Houston Astros are 45-36 in their road matches against the spread.
- The totals went OVER in 1 of the Astros’ last 5 matches.

Houston Astros vs St. Louis Cardinals Predictions 3/16/2023
The Cardinals are predicted to have between 86 and 91 wins in 2023 and are the presumptive favorites to win the NL Central after a quiet summer that saw the team sign one of the greatest catchers in the league while parting with a few franchise icons.
There isn’t much competition there; they or the Brewers are likely to win the division, and there is a good probability that they will both advance to the postseason.
Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado are anticipated to regress in 2023 after both significantly exceeding expectations in several metrics.
The signing of Willson Contreras and the anticipated debut of top prospect Jordan Walker, however, should lessen any potential production decline from the team’s top 2022 players.
Even though the offense is anticipated to regress from its top-five production finish in 2022, any lineup that includes Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, and Wilson Contreras will have slugging as its strongest suit.
Aside from those three, Tommy Edman just had an unbelievable year. Brendan Donovan, who placed third in the NL Rookie of the Year voting last year after a great season, Tyler O’Neill, who previously showed sparks, and Lars Nootbaar, who put up outstanding numbers in just over half a season, all have substantial upside.
The team’s ability to use Arenado and Goldschmidt in the same lineup and infield, though, remains its greatest asset despite all of its offensive options.
According to Fangraphs’ Depth Charts, Arenado has the fifth-best projection of any position player, while Goldschmidt is ranked 29th. There are just five other clubs with even two players in the top 29.
- The St Louis Cardinals are 1-4 in their last 5 matches against the spread.
- The St Louis Cardinals are 39-42 in their road matches against the spread.
- The totals went OVER in 4 of the Cardinals’ last 5 matches.
Houston Astros vs St. Louis Cardinals. The MLB pick for this game is the Houston Astros. The runner-up in this Astros forecast is Valdez. This is Justin Verlander’s club, and they are no longer in his shadow.
Valdez won’t win the Cy Young award since another candidate will have a far higher absurd ERA. This time, he’ll have to be content with second place. The Houston Astros will win to a predicted score of 5-4.
