Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Atlanta Falcons NFL Pick Prediction 1/8/2023
Buccaneers at Falcons—Left tackle out for Tampa Bay. On defense a nose tackle and right cornerback out. Questionable a left cornerback and safety. Falcons guard out with defensive starters healthy. Tampa Bay has clinched the NFC South and locked into a four seed. Falcons out of the playoffs Tampa Bay moved to 8-8 with the 30-24 home win to Carolina to clinch. Team put up 478 yards in the win and allowed 400 yards to the Panthers. Head coach Todd Bowles said he would play starters despite hosting a Wildcard playoff game next week. Tom Brady had a big game completing 75.6% with 9.6 yards per attempt. He passed for 432 yards and three touchdowns. Blaine Gabbert will relieve Brady and Kyle Trask, the third stringer, is expected to be activated and available. Atlanta improved to 6-10 with their 20-19 home win to Arizona. Falcons gained 298 yards in the win. Scoring has been an issue as the team has been held to 20 or fewer points in seven of eight games. Rookie Desmond Ridder completed 73.1% in the win last week with 6.5 yards per attempt. He has not thrown a touchdown or interception his three games. Falcons have lost four of five against the division. Tough to trust the Falcons offense to cover over a field goal even against the Bucs backups. Gabbert has plenty of NFL experience and the Falcons defense has surrendered 393 yards in divisional play. Play Tampa Bay +4.
New England Patriots vs. Buffalo Bills NFL Pick Prediction 1/8/2023
Patriots at Bills—New England receiver Meyers questionable. On defense both cornerbacks are questionable. Buffalo offensive starters healthy with safety Hamlin on his way to recovery. A win and the Patriots earn a wildcard berth. A loss and they need a lot of help. Bills have won the AFC East. Bills win would mean the Bills and Chiefs would play on a neutral field if they meet in the AFC Championship. New England improved to 8-8 with their 23-21 home win to Miami. Patriots gained only 249 yards. They have been held to 328 yards or fewer in five straight games. New England divisional games have averaged a total of 25.2 points. Patriots were held to ten points in their first meeting. Bills have won six straight covering half. Mac Jones in his first meeting against the Bills was held to 5.4 yards per attempt. Bills against the Division under in four of five by holding teams to 295 yards. Patriots also under in four of five in the division. These teams know each other very well. Play New England and Buffalo under 43.5.
Minnesota Vikings vs. Chicago Bears NFL Pick Prediction 1/8/2023
Vikings at Bears—Vikings center is out with a linebacker questionable. Chicago starting quarterback Fields out. Left corner out defense is out with their right cornerback questionable. Minnesota is the NFC North champions and cannot be the number one seed. Chicago eliminated from the playoffs. With a loss and Texans wins as the Bears hold the number one draft pick. Minnesota fell to 12-4 with the 41-17 road defeat at Green Bay. Vikings have failed to cover four straight. Having a shot at the number two seed is motivating enough to win here for Minnesota. This means if the top seed loses in the Divisional Round then the Vikings could host the NFC Championship Game. Minnesota defense has been leaky as in their past three games allowing 367 yards and 34 points. Bears have lost nine straight after their 41-10 road defeat to the Detroit Lions. They gained only 230 yards in defense. Past three games Bears averaged only 229 yards. Kirk Cousins has pounded bad defenses of the Colts for 460 yards and Lions for 425. He threw for 299 yards and three touchdowns at home to the Giants. Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell commented to the media that his starters may not play the entire game. Minnesota must win and San Francisco lose to Arizona for the Vikings to climb to the number two seed. O’Connell may not fell the 49ers losing very likely. Nathan Peterman gets the start. He has thrown 11 passes the past three seasons. Tim Boyle is his backup. Nick Mullens backup for the Vikings and he has NFL experience. Bears with a shot at the top pick in the draft means for possible vanilla game plan. Play Minnesota -6.
Baltimore Ravens vs. Cincinnati Bengals NFL Pick Prediction 1/8/2023
Ravens at Bengals—Quarterback Lamar Jackson out for Baltimore with receiver DeSean Jackson questionable. Backup quarterback Huntley questionable. Both backup receivers out. On defense a defensive end and cornerback questionable. Bengals starters on offense healthy. A corner out for Cincinnati on defense. Both teams have made playoffs. Cincinnati are AFC North champions and can’t win the top seed. They are motivated to win to be able to host a playoff game next week. If the Ravens win, the teams meet again next week in an AFC Wildcard with the home field decided by a coin flip. Baltimore comes off the 16-13 home defeat to Pittsburgh giving up a late touchdown drive in defeat. Ravens gained only 240 yards. Past three games the Baltimore offense averaging only 11 points and 288 yards. Huntley has seen limited work in practice. Coach Harbaugh relayed to the media that he expected Huntley to be ready. Anthony Brown is the third string seeing limited work in the loss at Pittsburgh. Tyler Huntley averaging only 5.9 yards per pass attempt. Bengals have been on a roll winning and covering nine of ten. At home the Bengals putting up 29 points and 433 yards. Play Cincinnati -9.
Houston Texans vs. Indianapolis Colts NFL Pick Prediction 1/8/2023
Texans at Colts—Receiver Dorsett out for Houston. On defense a cornerback out and defensive end questionable. Colts quarterback Foles out with tight end Granson as well. A cornerback on defense questionable. Both teams are out of the playoffs. A loss and the Texans will hold the number one draft picks. Colts currently sit with the fifth pick and a loss could move them up in draft order. Houston fell to 2-13-1 with their 31-3 home defeat to Jacksonville. Texans gained 277 yards while giving up 337 to the Jaguars. They have covered three of four with a win to Tennessee, overtime loss to KC and a four point loss at Dallas. Davis Mills struggled last week. Mills have some moments in the Cowboys and Chiefs loss as well as the win against the Titans. Colts have lost six straight after their 38-10 road defeat at the New York Giants. Sam Ehlinger in his past two starts completed 55.8% with 3.8 yards per attempt. Indianapolis has not been competitive in their past two games averaging 212 yards and 6.5 points per game. Play Houston +2.5.
New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins NFL Pick Prediction 1/8/2023
Jets at Dolphins—Guard questionable and fullback out. On defense a safety is questionable. Miami quarterback Tagovailoa is out with tight end Armstead doubtful. On defense a linebacker, cornerback and safety questionable. NYJ is eliminated from the playoffs. Miami earns a playoff spot with a win and Patriots loss. New York Jets dropped to 7-9 with their 23-6 road defeat at Seattle. They have been held without a touchdown in two straight games. They gained just 279 yards on a bad Seattle defense. The previous week, New York gained 227 on Jacksonville. It is five straight losses for the Jets. Joe Flacco expected to start at quarterback. Mike White has fractured ribs and Zach Wilson ineffective. Flacco saw the bulk of his action in the first three weeks of the season completing 58.7% of his passes with 5.8 yards per attempt. He threw for five touchdowns and three interceptions averaging 52 passing attempts per game. Miami is on a five game losing streak after their 23-21 road defeat at New England. Dolphins put up 333 yards. Teddy Bridgewater had a critical interception that turned a four point lead into a two point deficit late in the third quarter that swung the momentum. Rookie Skylar Thompson will get the start under center. In spot action this year he completed 54.1% of his passes for 5.2 yards per attempt. Thompson threw for one touchdown and three interceptions. Back to back road games for the Jets traveling to and from Seattle a week ago. They faced the disappointment of playoff elimination this week and have a trip to Miami. Don’t see this as a motivating trip down south against a team with a decent shot at making the playoffs and at home. High volume passing by Flacco could lead to turnovers since the veteran lack’s mobility. Play Miami -3.
Carolina Panthers vs. New Orleans Saints NFL Pick Prediction 1/8/2023
Panthers at Saints—Running back Foreman questionable for Carolina. On defense both ends and a tackle questionable. Saints left guard out. Tight end Johnson and both offensive questionable. On defense a corner out and safety questionable. Both teams are out of the playoffs. New Orleans has not first round pick. Carolina fell to 6-10 with their 30-24 road defeat at Tampa Bay. Panthers moved the football for 400 yads and only 74 rushing. Sam Darnold threw for 341 yards, three touchdowns and an interception last week against the Buccaneers. He threw for three touchdowns and interception and 9.2 yards per attempt. Darnold also fumbled twice which resulted in ten Buccaneers points. New Orleans has won three straight after their 20-10 road win at Philadelphia Saints defense has allowed 18 or fewer points in five straight games. Andy Dalton completed 81.8% in the win with 9.3 yards per attempt. He did throw one pick. Saints defensive form the difference here. Play New Orleans -3.5.
Cleveland Browns vs. Pittsburgh Steelers NFL Pick Prediction 1/8/2023
Browns at Steelers—Cleveland right tackle out. On defense a defensive end out with cornerback questionable. Pittsburgh starters on offense healthy. A linebacker and safety questionable. Cleveland is out of the playoffs and does not have a first round draft picks. Pittsburgh is playing for a winning record. They also have a shot at the playoffs with a win plus losses by New England and Miami. Cleveland is 7-9 after their 24-10 road win at Washington. Browns gained 301 yards in the win. They did give up five sacks and caught a break with Carson Wentz at quarterback and his three interceptions. DeShaun Watson made the most of his 50% completions with three touchdowns and 9.4 yards per attempt. Overall Watson a 56.7% completion rate with 6.2 yards per attempt. Pittsburgh moved to 8-8 after their 16-13 come from behind win to Baltimore. Steelers gained 351 yards with 198 rushing. Three straight wins for the Steelers and five in six games. Defense has allowed 17 points or fewer in this six game period. Kenny Pickett completed 55.6% with 6.2 yards per attempt and a clutch touchdown. Past three games Steelers offense and defense in the better form. Pass protection major issue for the Browns here. Play Pittsburgh -2.5.
New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles NFL Pick Prediction 1/8/2023
Giants at Eagles—NYG has their center questionable. On defense out are a defense end and cornerback. Quarterback Jalen Hurts questionable and a right tackle out. Defensive starters healthy. The Giants have clinched a wildcard spot and are locked in as a sixth seed. Eagles win they win the NFC East and the Top Seed in the NFC. New York improved to 9-6-1 with their 38-10 home win to Indianapolis. Giants have covered five of six. They posted 394 yards and 217 rushing. Daniel Jones is not expected to start. Media reports have Davis Webb to start. Webb has not thrown a pass this season. Veteran Tyrod Taylor is the QB2 for the Giants. Philadelphia comes off the 20-10 home defeat to the New Orleans Saints. Eagles were held to 313 yards. Hurts is expected to start after missing two games with a shoulder injury. Jalen Hurts posting a 67.3% completion rate with 8.2 yards per attempt. Starting a third string telling for the Giants here. They will be on the road at the number two seed next week. Look for Philadelphia to get a lead and milk clock in the second half. Play New York and Philadelphia under 42.5.
Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Commanders NFL Pick Prediction 1/8/2023
Cowboys at Commanders—Dallas center is out with guard questionable. Linebacker out on defense. Receiver Robinson and right tackle out for the Commanders with a guard questionable. A right tackle and safety out on defense. Dallas has won six of seven with their 27-13 road win at Tennessee. Titans utilized a third string quarterback. Cowboys put up 361 yards with 87 rushing. Dak Prescott has been effective past three games with a 74.5% completion rate and 8.3 yards per attempt. Washington fell to 7-8-1 with their 24-10 home defeat to Cleveland. Commanders have lost three straight. They put up just 260 yards. Commanders are eliminated from the playoffs, so they start rookie Sam Howell. Howell a fifth round pick has not thrown a pass in the regular season. Washington behind their third string quarterback will struggle to score. Cowboys may know their fate in the second half if the Eagles are blowing out the Giants who are starting a third string. Could see Cowboys rest starters in the late stages if the Eagles are up big. Play Dallas and Washington under 40.
LA Chargers vs. Denver Broncos NFL Pick Prediction 1/8/2023
Chargers at Broncos—LAC fullback Horvath questionable with their defensive starters healthy. Denver receiver Hinton out with right tackle questionable. On defense their nose tackle out with corner questionable. Chargers have clinched a playoff spot. A win and they are the fifth seed and travels to Jacksonville in a Wildcard. A loss by Baltimore earlier in the day and the Chargers are locked in as a five seed prior to kickoff. Denver out of playoff contention. LA improved to 10-6 with their 31-10 home win to LA Rams. Chargers put up 431 yards and had success running the football with 192 yards. Justin Herbert past four games completing 73.7% with 7.4 yards per attempt. Denver fell to 4-12 with their 27-24 road defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs. Broncos gained just 307 yards. Russell Wilson coming off a game where he completed 68.4% and 222 yards. He could be throwing against the Chargers reserves here. Ravens are a nine point underdog at Cincinnati so a loss is likely. That means the Chargers will have the fifth seed locked. In this scenario would expect LA to rest players with a road trip to Jacksonville the following week. They could be hit with a short week if their playoff game is on Saturday. Play Denver -3.
LA Rams vs. Seattle Seahawks NFL Pick Prediction 1/8/2023
Rams at Seahawks—Stafford out for Los Angeles with Donald out on defense. Running back Lockett and guard questionable for the Seahawks. A safety is questionable on defense. Rams are out of the playoffs with no first round pick. Seahawks must win and have the Packers lose to make the playoffs. LA comes off the 31-10 road defeat to LA Chargers. Rams put up only 277 yards in the loss. Rams allowed 192 rushing yards. Baker Mayfield had a poor game in defeat with 132 passing yards and 57.9% completions. In his road games with the Rams, Mayfield a 57.5% completions with 6.1 yards per attempt. Seahawks kept their playoff hopes alive with their 23-6 home win to the NY Jets. The run game generated 198 yards. Geno Smith threw for 183 yards and two touchdowns. At home Smith a 68.9% completion rate with 6.9 yards per attempt. He has thrown for 14 touchdowns and four picks in his home stadium. Green Bay plays at night so Seattle wins and puts the pressure on the Packers in their night game. Rams run defense looked poor last week without Donald. Rain in the forecast and prefers the Seahawks run game. Play Seattle -6.

San Francisco is 12-4 after their 37-34 road win at Las Vegas in overtime. 49ers posted 454 yards but allowed 500 yards to the Raiders. Brock Purdy another good performance for San Francisco. Past five games, Purdy a 67.4% completion rate with 8 yards per attempt. Past four home games the 49ers have won by 13 or greater points. They play at the same time of the Eagles. Green Bay wins and the Packers make the playoffs. Detroit makes the playoffs with a win and Seattle loss. Detroit improved to 8-8 after their 41-10 home win to Chicago. Lions gained 504 yards running for 265. Lions have won four of five. They have covered eight of nine and beat Green Bay at home 15-9 frustrating Aaron Rodgers. Since the bye week, Jared Goff a 66.5% completion rate on the road with 7.8 yards per attempt. Green Bay has won four straight with their 41-17 home win to Minnesota. Packers win with 315 yards of offense. Aaron Rodgers threw for 159 yards a touchdown and 6.6 yards per attempt. Green Bay had an interception and kickoff return for touchdowns. Don’t see the Lions laying down if Seattle wins earlier in the afternoon. They don’t get this opportunity much to play a prime time game. Play Detroit +5.
