Kentucky Wildcats vs Alabama Crimson Tide 1/7/2023 Picks Predictions Previews

The Kentucky Wildcats will go against the #7 Alabama Crimson Tide in NCAAB action in Coleman Coliseum, AL, on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 1:00 PM ET.

According to KenPom rankings, the Kentucky Wildcats are ranked 16th in the nation. They rank 44th on the defensive end of the floor and 17th in modified offensive efficiency.

The Wildcats’ 150th-ranked strength of schedule includes a victory over Michigan. Defeats for Kentucky came from Michigan State, Gonzaga, UCLA, and Missouri.

Following a loss to Missouri on December 28 (89-75), Kentucky won its last two games, defeating Louisville (86-63) and LSU (74-71).

Although head coach John Calipari supported one-and-done players throughout his career, this team is led by strong veterans.

Senior Jacob Toppin, who is 6’9 and averages 11.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, contributed to the victory over LSU by scoring 21 points.

Another 6 ‘9 senior, Oscar Tshiebwe, led the team in scoring with 16.8 points per game and in rebounding with 13.8 per game. He had 21 points and 16 rebounds versus LSU.

Of course, the squad still has 6’4″ Cason Wallace, a freshman sensation who averages 12.9 points per game while shooting 45.6% from three.

  • The Kentucky Wildcats are 0-8 ATS in their last 8 matches.
  • The total went OVER in 4 of Kentucky’s last 5 matches.
  • The Wildcats are 7-2 SU in their last 9 matches.

Kentucky Wildcats vs Alabama Crimson Tide Predictions 1/7/2023

Alabama has a 7-6-1 record against the spread, while their matches have an 8-6 over/under record. According to KenPom, the Crimson Tide is ranked sixth in the country.

In spite of playing the fifth-toughest schedule in the nation, they are 12th in modified defensive efficiency and 20th in adjusted offensive efficiency.

With victories over North Carolina, Houston, Memphis, San Diego State, Michigan State, and Mississippi State, the Crimson Tides have a very strong resume. They were defeated by Gonzaga and UConn.

The Tide is currently 2-0 in conference play after defeating Mississippi on Tuesday. In the victory, Mark Sears scored 16 points, while Brandon Miller, a freshman, scored 17 points overall to lead the squad.

Miller is producing 19.1 points per game, 8.6 rebounds, and 44.1% of his three-point attempts this season. Mark Sears, a transfer from Ohio who averages 14.6 points per game and shoots 42.5% from three, is in second place.

In their SEC debut on Wednesday, Alabama defeated Mississippi State 78-67 despite being a two-point favorite. Miller scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while Sears finished with 20 points to take the lead.

  • The Alabama Crimson Tide is 7-1 SU in their last 8 matches.
  • The total went UNDER in 4 of Alabama’s last 6 with the Kentucky Wildcats.
  • The Crimson Tide is 7-0 SU in their last 7 matches at home.

Kentucky Wildcats vs #7 Alabama Crimson Tide. The NCAAB pick for this game is the #7 Alabama Crimson Tide. This year, Alabama was the superior team and already overcame some significant obstacles.

The Crimson Tide defeated Houston, the top team in the country according to KenPom, by six points on the road four weeks ago. They won their last three matches by double digits margins.

Despite having four defeats by at least 9 points on its record, Kentucky did not perform as well in the big games despite having a tremendous amount of skill.

Although both teams are very explosive, Alabama defends better and has the advantage at the free-throw line.

In addition to making more free throws, the Crimson Tide averages 25.4 attempts per game, ranking seventh in the nation, as opposed to Kentucky’s 18.8 (116th).

Alabama is right behind Kentucky in second place with a +9.86 rebounding margin this year, but Kentucky often consistently retains a significant advantage.

However, Kentucky is 0-7-1 ATS in its past eight meetings and 5-16-2 ATS in its last 23 away matches, so I don’t think the oddsmakers have this one quite right. The #7 Alabama Crimson Tide will win to a predicted score of
