M.J. Morris, a rookie, took over and passed for seven touchdowns and one interception before being hurt and missing the final two games (a 25-10 defeat at Louisville and a 30-27 victory over UNC).

Because the NC State offense was inconsistent the whole season, they will need to win with defense and ball security. They only get 121 running yards and 222.5 passing yards a game, for an overall average of just 343.5 yards (108th).

The defense was outstanding, especially when it comes to allowing only 102.8 yards per game against the run (11th). Additionally, they are 15th in the country with just 19.4 ppg.
