Paolo Banchero, the first overall choice, appears to be the guy the Orlando Magic were searching for. Banchero scored a career-high 27 points against Detroit in his NBA debut, adding nine rebounds and five assists.

Banchero provided long-suffering Magic supporters optimism despite the four-point road setback. He was one of just three first-round choices since 1969 to record at least 25 points, five rebounds, and five assists in his NBA debut, along with LeBron James and Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

In a 10-point defeat against the Hawks on Friday night, Banchero followed it up by scoring 20 points and grabbing 12 rebounds for his first-ever double-double.

On Saturday, Orlando will play at home for the first time, and there will probably be a full house to watch Banchero make his home debut for the regular season.

Through the first two games, the Magic’s offense was a little erratic, with the club shooting almost 50% in a tight defeat to the Pistons and then shooting just over 40% in the loss to Atlanta.

Additionally, the Magic significantly outrebounded the Pistons before being outrebounded by the Hawks.
