Virginia vs. Syracuse College Football Pick Prediction 9/23/2022
Virginia at Syracuse—Virginia improved to 2-1 after their 16-14 home win to Old Dominion. They did move the football for 513 yards on the Monarchs but fumbled the ball way three times.
Quarterback Brennan Armstrong is battling accuracy issues completing just 52.9% of his passes with two touchdowns, three picks but 7 yards per pass attempt. Defense has shown improvement from previous seasons holding opponents to 350 yards, 4.2 yards per rush and 6.2 per pass attempt.
Two weak opponents of their three on the schedule as the Cavaliers lost 24-3 at Illinois allowing 397 yards. Syracuse improves to 3-0 after their 32-29 home win to Purdue. Syracuse quarterback Garrett Shrader was inaccurate going 13 of 29 but had three touchdowns and the game winner from 25 yards with seven seconds remaining.
Defensively the Orange held the Boilermakers run game in check but allowed 424 yards passing on 55 attempts. Both defenses limiting run production but the Orange are putting points on the board and Virginia isn’t. Play Syracuse -9.5.
Nevada vs. Air Force College Football Pick Prediction 9/23/2022
Nevada at Air Force—Nevada fell to 2-2 after their 27-0 road defeat at Iowa. This rebuilding Wolf Pack team gained only 151 yards in defeat unable to tally over 100 yards on the run or pass. Oklahoma St transfer quarterback Shane Illingworth is completing 60.4% of his passes but for only 4.4 yards per pass attempt.
The Wolf Pack also has home loss to FCS Incarnate Word 55-41 giving up 623 yards. Air Force drops to 2-1 after their 17-14 road defeat at Wyoming behind only 272 yards of offense. Defense struggled defending the Cowboys run game giving up 180 yards on 35 carries for over five yards per attempt.
Falcons did produce points at home to Colorado with 41 and 487 yards in their win. At home expect offensive production from the Falcons here. Back to back road game for Nevada on a short week after playing a physical Iowa team. Play Air Force and Nevada over 46.
Boise St vs. UTEP College Football Pick Prediction 9/23/2022
Boise St at UTEP—Boise St improves to 2-1 after their 30-7 home win to FCS Tennessee Martin behind 327 yards. Offense has not clicked for the Broncos averaging only 318 yards. In their loss at Oregon St the Broncos gave up 470 yards with 293 passing.
Quarterback Hank Bachmeier is completing 63.3% of his passes, five touchdowns, three picks and only 6.7 yards per pass attempt. UTEP falls to 1-3 after their 27-10 road defeat at New Mexico. Minors ground game stalled with only 55 yards on 20 carries against the Lobos.
It was a disaster for UTEP committing seven turnovers. Defense played well holding New Mexico to 29 yards and only 111 passing on 19 attempts. Miners quarterback Gavin Hardison only completing 49.4% of his passes with 5.6 yards per pass attempt.
UTEP will be challenged moving the football on the Broncos. They are giving up three sacks per game and converting only 30% on third down. Play Boise St and UTEP under 45.5.
Akron vs. Liberty College Football Pick Prediction 9/24/2022
Akron at Liberty—Akron drops to 1-2 with their 63-6 road defeat at Tennessee. Zips defense was crushed giving up 676 yards to the Volunteers with 437 passing. Their only win came at home to FCS Stephen F Austin 30-23 in overtime.
They had a road game at Michigan St getting beat 52-0 allowing 498 yards. Zips quarterback DJ Irons threw the ball 44 time against the Vols averaging only 5.5 per attempt. Liberty drops to 2-1 after their 37-36 road defeat at Wake Forest.
Flames move the football for 437 yards. Starting quarterback Kaidon Salter has an ankle injury and unlikely to play. Alabama transfer Jonathan Bennett to start. He saw work in two games hitting 7 of 21 with no touchdowns and three picks.
Liberty starting quarterback Charlie Brewer out for the season third stringer Bennett gets the nod here. Third straight road game for the Zips getting beat up physically at Michigan St and Tennessee. Flames are running for 204 yards and 4.8 yards per attempt. Expect Liberty to run the ball heavily here with success. Play Liberty -26.5.
Rice vs. Houston College Football Pick Prediction 9/24/2022
Rice at Houston—Rice moves to 2-1 on the season after their 33-21 home win to Louisiana. Owls put on a monster defensive performance holding the Ragin Cajuns to 175 yards. Rice quarterback TJ McMahon completed 69.4% of his passes with three touchdowns but three interceptions.
Houston drops to 1-2 after their 48-30 home loss to Kansas. Cougars struggled in run defense giving up 280 yards on 43 carries behind a dual threat quarterback. Houston offense did move the football for 396 yards.
Clayton Tune completed 71% of his passes with 272 yards and 8.8 yards per attempt. That was an improvement after a poor showing on the road to Texas Tech. Houston defense and run game a concern laying this big number against an improving Owls team. Play Rice +17.5.
UNLV vs. Utah St College Football Pick Prediction 9/24/2022
UNLV at Utah St—UNLV improves to 2-1 after their 58-27 home win to North Texas. Monster performance on the ground for the Rebels as they gained 365 rushing yards on 51 carries. Defense did give up 474 yards to the Mean Green with 305 passing on 30 attempts.
Quarterback Doug Brumfield with his run game on fire hit on 21 of 27 for 211 yards and two touchdowns. He did bounce back from an inaccurate performance at Cal. Utah St fell to 1-2 after their 35-7 home defeat to FCS Weber St. Aggies gain only 283 yards on their FCS opponent.
Quarterback Logan Bonner an Arkansas St transfer completing only 50.7% of his passes with 6.4 yards per attempt a career low. His backup Cooper Legas inaccurate as well with 41.2% completion rate. Rebels in their road game a close loss at California. A lot wrong with Utah St. Play UNLV -3.
Northern Illinois vs. Kentucky College Football Pick Prediction 9/24/2022
Northern Illinois at Kentucky—Northern Illinois fell to 1-2 after their 38-28 home defeat to Vanderbilt. Huskies up 28-14 midway through the third quarter give up the final 24 points. NIU defense gave up 428 yards to the Commodores with 255 passing on 28 attempts.
Michigan St transfer quarterback Rocky Lombardi had to exit last week’s game with a knee injury. Backup Ethan Hampton went 12 of 19 for 124 yards, two touchdowns and one pick. But he led the Huskies during their scoring drought.
Kentucky is 3-0 with their 31-0 home win to FCS Youngstown St. Wildcats piled up 480 yards on their FCS opponents. Quarterback Will Levis is completing 67% of his passes with six touchdowns, four picks and 9.7 yards per pass attempt.
Northern Illinois pass defense a concern as they are giving up 284 yards a game, 65% completions and 9 yards per pass attempt. Wildcats defense has been outstanding. Kentucky is at Ole Miss next week so Kentucky may shorten this game with clock draining drives late. Play Northern Illinois +26.
Iowa vs. Rutgers College Football Pick Prediction 9/24/2022
Iowa at Rutgers—Iowa improved to 2-1 after their 27-0 home win to Nevada behind only 339 yards. Another strong defensive performance holding a rebuilding Wolf Pack offense to 151 yards.
Quarterback Spencer Petras completing only 48.1% of his passes with 4.9 yards per pass attempt. Better showing against Nevada but only 53.8% completion rate. Rutgers improved to 3-0 after their 16-14 road win at Rutgers behind only 206 yards offensively.
Scarlet Knights starting quarterback Noah Vedral has been injured and is a game time decision. The two backups have split time with a 59.4% completion rate.
Both defense smothering the run with Rutgers allowing 1.2 per rush and Iowa 2.1. Hawkeyes were held to seven points at home to Iowa St and South Dakota St and this will be their first road game. Play Rutgers +7.5.

Southern Miss at Tulane—Southern Miss moves to 1-2 after their 64-10 home win to FCS Northwestern St behind 588 yards. They covered in a road loss at Miami and home by two in overtime to Liberty. Quarterback Zach Wilde hitting on 55.6% of his passes with 6.9 yards per pass attempt.
Tulane is 3-0 after their 17-10 road win at Kansas St. Defense allowed 20 points this season. Green Wave held the Wildcats to 336 yards and only 150 passing on 31 attempts. Green Wave quarterback Michael Pratt a poor game against the Wildcats completing 50% with a touchdown and two picks with 6.8 yards per pass attempt.
Tulane holding teams to 220 yards on the season. Green Wave getting production from ground game and concern about Wilde in this road stop against this good defense. Play Tulane and Southern Miss under 48.5.
Louisiana Tech vs. South Alabama College Football Pick Prediction 9/24/2022
Louisiana Tech at South Alabama—Louisiana Tech fell to 1-2 after their 48-20 road defeat at Clemson. In their other FBS game they were blown out at Missouri 52-24. Tigers covered the big number against the Tigers with fourteen points in the final quarter when the game was decided. The defense allowed 521 yards.
Quarterback Parker McNeil did go 23 of 42 for 311 yards a touchdown and two picks against Clemson with 7.4 yards per pass attempt. On the season Parker is averaging 8.6 per attempt. South Alabama drops to 2-1 with their 32-31 road defeat at UCLA as they gained 399 yards. Bulldogs lose on a 24 yards field goal as time expired.
Jaguars piled up 162 rushing yards on the Bruins on 34 carries. Toledo transfer quarterback Carter Bradley is completing 67% of his passes with 8.1 yards per pass attempt.
He had a big game at Central Michigan with 339 passing yards and 8.1 per attempt. Louisiana Tech passing game keeps them in this one. Play Louisiana Tech +13.5.
Arkansas St vs. Texas A&M College Football Pick Prediction 9/24/2022
Arkansas St at Texas A&M—Game on a neutral site. Arkansas is 3-0 after their 38-27 home win to FCS Missouri St behind 600 yards. Strong offensive performances for the Razorbacks in wins against Cincinnati and South Carolina.

FAU at Purdue—FAU fell to 2-2 after their 40-14 home defeat to UCF. Owls held to only 296 yards in defeat. Florida Atlantic defense torched for 653 yards with 314 rushing on 55 carries.
FAU quarterback N’Kosi Perry completing 57.7% of his throws with 10 touchdowns, 2 picks and 8 yards per pass attempt. A very poor performance against UCF. The schedule has been weak with games against Charlotte, Ohio and Southeast Louisiana prior to playing UCF. P

Quarterback Aiden O’Connell is completing 64.4% of his throws with 7.5 yards per pass attempt. He was productive in the loss at Syracuse.
Two offenses that can move the football. O’Connell should torch this FAU pass defense but not confident laying the 17.5 here with Perry a capable quarterback. Play FAU and Purdue over 59.
Marshall vs. Troy College Football Pick Prediction 9/24/2022
Marshall at Troy—Marshall fell to 2-1 after their 34-31 road defeat to Bowling Green. They couldn’t build on a win at Notre Dame the week prior. Thundering Herd lose despite 547 offensive yards but had a -3 turnover margin. They did allow 300 passing yards to the Falcons on 47 attempts and four touchdown passes.
Thundering Herd quarterback Henry Colombi is completing 77.8% of his passes with fourth touchdowns and two picks. The Texas Tech transfer averaging 8.5 per attempt. Troy fell to 1-2 with their 32-28 road defeat at Appalachian St behind a 53 yard touchdown pass as time expired.
Trojans did give up 453 yards to the Mountaineers with 161 rushing. Trojans run game stalled. Quarterback Gunnar Watson threw for 302 yards and 8.2 yards per attempt on Appalachian St. Watson has been accurate this season but has four picks.
Trojans have covered both of their FCS games this season with production out of their passing game. Marshall pass defense the concern. Play Troy +3.
UCONN vs. NC State College Football Pick Prediction 9/24/2022
UCONN at NC State—UCONN fell to 1-3 after their 59-0 road defeat at Michigan. Huskies offense gained only 110 yards in defense. The previous week they had only 202 yards in a 34 point home loss to Syracuse. Quarterback Zion Turner, a freshman, completing only 51.2% of his throws with 4.5 yards per pass attempt.
Run game hasn’t produced much on Michigan and Syracuse. NC State is 3-0 after their 27-14 home win to Texas Tech. NC State wins despite only 270 yards. But they smothered the Red Raiders run game and forced four turnovers.
NC State quarterback Devin Leary completing 59.3% of his passes with 7 yards per attempt. These numbers are down from his previous two seasons. Huskies will struggle to get points on the board. Play UCONN and NC State under 49.5.
Vanderbilt vs. Alabama College Football Pick Prediction 9/24/2022
Vanderbilt at Alabama—Vanderbilt improved to 3-1 with their 38-28 road win at Northern Illinois. Commodores held the Huskies scoreless the final 27 minutes of their game overcoming a 28-14 deficit. They moved the football for 428 yards with 173 rushing.
Quarterback AJ Swann, a freshman, is completing 63% of his passes with six touchdowns, no picks and 9.8 yards per attempt. Alabama improved to 3-0 with their 63-7 home win to UL Monroe behind 509 yards. Wins by 56 and 55 in their two home games where they have averaged 534 yards and given up 152 yards per game.
