Hokies have a three point loss at Old Dominion and beat Boston College at home. In their FBS games the Hokies averaged 314 yards. Marshall transfer quarterback Grant Wells was unimpressive in his FCS games averaging 5.5 yards per pass attempts and four interceptions.
Starting running back Malahi Thomas is doubtful for Virginia Tech with an ankle injury. Respect the Mountaineers ability to move the football on Pittsburgh in their lone road game of the season as they did cover that game.

But Georgia St struggled to defend the pass giving up 401 yards on 43 attempts and five touchdowns. Panthers quarterback Darren Grainger after a bad outing at South Carolina showed improvement in his games against North Carolina and Charlotte.
