FIU vs. Texas St College Football Pick Prediction 9/10/2022
FIU at Texas St—FIU is 1-0 with the 38-37 home overtime win to FCS Bryant. Golden Panthers win despite allowing 470 yards to their FCS opponent. FIU was a 1-11 team last year returning four on offense and five to the defense.
Mike Macintyre is in his first year with the program. He had stops in San Jose St and Colorado. Starting quarterback Gunnar Holmberg suffered a concussion. Grayson James came in for Holmberg hitting 16 of 31 for 207 yards and four touchdowns against the FCS opponent.
Texas St is 0-1 after their 38-14 road defeat to Nevada. Bobcats offense held to only 301 yards rushing for 12 yards on 25 carries. Former Arkansas St quarterback Layne Hatcher went 33 of 51 for 289 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively Texas St held the Wolf Pack to 274 yards with 144 through the air.
Bobcats held Nevada to just 3 yards per carry and only 28.6% completion rate. Bobcats experience on offense with nine starters back but only five to the defense. Head coach Jake Spavital is in his fourth season. Bobcats look to improve on an offense that averaged 22 points and 332 yards per game.
Defense surrendered 32 points and 430 yards a game last year. FIU defense and loss of starting quarterback the issue here. Bobcats went into FIU last year and win 23-17 in overtime. Play Texas St -13.5.
San Jose St vs. Auburn College Football Pick Prediction 9/10/2022
San Jose St at Auburn—San Jose St is 1-0 with their 21-17 home win to FCS Portland St. Spartans offense generated only 288 yards in the win. Hawaii transfer Chevan Cordeiro hit on 15 of 30 for 239 yards with a touchdown. The run game generated only 49 yards on 29 carries.
Defensively San Jose St allowed 395 yards to their FCS opponent. Spartans return six starters on offense and nine to the defense. This offense struggled last year posting 17.7 points and 323 yards a game. Only 31.3% on third down. Defensively the Spartans defended the run well but allowed 63.4% completion rate and 245 yards passing.
Auburn is 1-0 defeating FCS Mercer 42-16 behind 497 yards. TJ Finley got the nod at quarterback and was unimpressive going 9 of 14 for 112 yards with a touchdown and two picks. They ran for 285 yards on their FCS opponent and defended well.
Tigers return four starters to their offensive line and should be able to run on San Jose St and exploit the weak Spartans pass defense. Tigers were a defense last season that surrendered 23 points and 3.7 yards per rush.
Pass defense was an issue last season, but Spartans are inexperienced on their offensive line so pass protection could be challenging. Play Auburn -24.
Arizona St vs. Oklahoma St College Football Pick Prediction 9/10/2022
Arizona St at Oklahoma St—Arizona St is 1-0 following their 40-3 home win to FCS Northern Arizona. Florida transfer Emory Jones won the starting job at quarterback hitting 13 of 18 for 152 yards. He is a running quarterback who rushed for 48 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries.
Defense held their FCS opponent to just 120 points. Jones was accurate last year at Florida completing 64.7% of his throws. This is an inexperienced ASU team but Herman Edwards was able to get in transfers. Oklahoma St is 1-0 with their 58-44 home win to Central Michigan.
Cowboys move the football for 531 yards and built a 44-15 lead at the half. Oklahoma St then gave up 29 points in the second half and 546 yards total with 424 in the passing game. Quarterback Spencer Saunders good showing against a MAC opponent hitting on 28 of 41 for 406 yards and four touchdowns.
Herman Edwards had a good defensive team last year but only four starters return. Play Oklahoma St and Arizona St over 57.5.
USC vs. Stanford College Football Pick Prediction 9/10/2022
USC at Stanford—USC is 1-0 with their 66-14 home win to Rice behind 538 yards. A positive was the 28 points scored in the third quarter. Caleb Williams in his USC debut hit on 19 of 22 for 249 yards and two touchdowns. Trojans ran for 208 yards.
On defense they held the Owls to 180 yards and only 4.8 yards per pass attempt. Offense and defense were great on third down. Stanford is 1-0 after their 41-10 home win to FCS Colgate behind 497 yards.
Cardinal an experienced team returning ten on offense and seven to the defense. But Stanford went 3-9 last season averaging 20 points and allowing 32. Cardinals a season ago 110th defensively on third down and gave up 453 yards with 5.9 yards per pass attempt.
Opponents completed 62.2% of their passes on Stanford with 7.6 yards per pass attempt. Don’t want to back Stanford here. Play USC -8.5.
Georgia Southern vs. Nebraska College Football Pick Prediction 9/10/2022
Georgia Southern at Nebraska—Georgia Southern opened their season with a 59-7 home win to FCS Morgan St moving the football for 504 yards. Former Buffalo quarterback Kyle Vantrease is under center passing for 367 yards on 29 of 46 in the opener.
Clay Helton is in his first year with the Eagles has eight starters back on offense with five to the defense. Georgia Southern was a triple option team now converting to a conventional offense. Eagles struggled last year on offense averaging 19.4 points and 327 yards a game.
Defense poor last season surrendering 32 points and 446 yards a game. They allowed 284 yards passing with 8.7 yards per pass attempt. Nebraska moved to 1-1 with their 38-17 home win to FCS North Dakota. It was a 17-17 tie late in the third quarter.
Quarterback Casey Thompson is completing 62% of his passes with three touchdowns and three picks. Tough to lay over three touchdowns with the Cornhuskers. Georgia Southern does have an experienced quarterback. Play Georgia Southern +23.5.

Hawaii vs. Michigan College Football Pick Prediction 9/10/2022
Hawaii at Michigan—Hawaii fell to 0-2 with their 49-17 home defeat to Western Kentucky. In their opener the Rainbows were blown out 63-10. Hawaii was hit with massive turnover after a dispute with their former head coach. First year head coach Timmy Chang is in a difficult spot building from the ground up.
Hawaii defense allowing 506 yards per game with 272 rushing for 7.5 yards per rush. Michigan is 1-0 with their 51-7 home win to Colorado St. Wolverines put up 440 yards in the win in a balanced attack. It was a strong running performance for Michigan with 234 yards with 5.8 yards per rush.
Strength of the Michigan lines and speed of their playmakers will overwhelm this rebuilding Hawaii team. Even the Wolverines second and third string backups should outscore the Rainbows putting up a total over 70 points. Play Michigan -52.
Boston College vs. Virginia Tech College Football Pick Prediction 9/10/2022
Boston College at Virginia Tech—Boston College fell to 0-1 with their 22-21 home defeat to Rutgers. Eagles faced a tough defensive opponent in their opener. Eagles moved the football for 312 yards but only 29 rushing on 28 carries.
Notre Dame transfer Phil Jurkovec hit on 23 of 41 for 283 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. BC had a bad fourth quarter in defeat. Defensively the Eagles allowed 212 rushing yards for 5 yards a carry but where strong with their pass defense.
Virginia Tech 0-1 with their 20-17 road defeat at Old Dominion. Hokies were held scoreless in the final 20 minutes. Defensively Virginia Tech held the Monarchs to just 245 yards. Marshall transfer Grant Wells hit on 21 of 36 passes for 193 yards with a touchdown but four interceptions.
Wells had 22 picks in his last two seasons with the Thundering Herd. He did rush for 45 yards on seven carries and a touchdown. Both passing defenses played well in their openers. Play Boston College and Virginia Tech under 46.5.
New Mexico St vs. UTEP College Football Pick Prediction 9/10/2022
New Mexico St at UTEP—New Mexico St 0-2 after their 38-0 road defeat at Minnesota gaining only 91 yards of offense. They opened with a rebuilding Nevada team at home losing 23-12. Freshman quarterback Gavin Frakes hit only 11 of 20 this season for 186 yards with a touchdown and two picks.
Aggies defense held opponents to 133 passing yards with 5.8 yards per pass attempt. UTEP falls to 0-2 after their 45-13 road defeat at Oklahoma. They hosted North Texas in Week 0 losing 31-13. Miners have struggled running the football with 2.2 yards per rush average.
They do average 290 passing yards but high volume throws and only 5.9 per attempt. Both offenses have been inefficient. They met last season with UTEP winning 30-3 behind 452 yards. Miners showed quality on defense last season is a run team. Play New Mexico St and UTEP under 46.
Baylor vs. BYU College Football Pick Prediction 9/10/2022
Baylor at BYU—Baylor opened with FCS Albany and came away with the 69-10 home win behind 573 yards. Bears return six starters on offense and defense. Sophomore Blake Shapen has shown to be an accurate quarterback last year and in his opener this season. He led the Bears to a win against Oklahoma St in the Big 12 title game.
BYU is 1-0 with their 50-21 road win at South Florida. Cougars moved the football for 576 yards. Junior quarterback Jarren Hall hit 25 of 32 for 261 yards and two touchdowns. BYU is experienced with eight starters back on offense and 11 to the defense. They used the transfer portal to fill holes on offense.
Defense is the concern for BYU as they surrendered 26 points and 401 yards per game in 2021. Opponents completed 66.5% of their throws on the Cougars and BYU had trouble getting off the field on third down allowing 45.5% conversions for 114th in the nation. Play Baylor +2.5.
Oregon St vs. Fresno St College Football Pick Prediction 9/10/2022
Oregon St at Fresno St—Oregon St is 1-0 with their 34-17 home win to Boise St. Beavers were able to move the football for 470 yards on a declining Boise St program. Chance Nolan went 14 of 23 for 251 yards with two touchdowns and two picks.
Fortunately the Beavers had a good run attack and defended well holding the Broncos to 311 yards. They limited Boise St to 5.1 yards per pass attempt. Fresno St is 1-0 with the 35-7 home win to FCS Cal Poly behind 549 yards.
Quarterback Jake Haener has been accurate in his three seasons at the school Bulldogs have eight starters back on offense with seven to the defense. Fresno St lined up a good defense last year holding opponents to 21.4 points and 353 yards a game.
Teams ran for only 3.8 yards a carry on the Bulldogs and completed only 52.5% of their passes good for second in the nation. Beavers lost five straight on the road with bad losses at California and Colorado. Play Fresno St at a pick.
Mississippi St vs. Arizona College Football Pick Prediction 9/10/2022
Mississippi St at Arizona—Mississippi St is 1-0 with their 49-23 home win to Memphis. Bulldogs gained 547 yards in the win. Quarterback Will Rogers went 38 of 49 for 450 yards with five touchdowns and an interception. Bulldogs did allow 20 second half points.
Arizona is 1-0 with their 38-20 road win at San Diego St. Wildcats offense moved the football for 461 yards against a defensive Aztecs team. Washington St transfer Jayden de Laura hit on 22 of 35 for 299 yards with four touchdowns and three picks.
Arizona’s defense allowed 32 points and 384 yards a game last year. Team averaged 8.3 yards per pass attempt on the Wildcats last season. San Diego St is not a good offensive team and could not exploit the Arizona defense.
