Even though there is still much to be done, South Carolina should be pleased with their postseason triumph in Shane Beamer’s first year as head coach in what was meant to be a rebuilding year.

While the Gamecocks were unable to compete with some of the SEC’s top teams, they did manage to beat Florida, Auburn, and North Carolina in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.

Marshawn Lloyd will take over the starting running back position after carrying the ball 64 times for 228 yards and a touchdown during the previous season despite not being at full strength the entire time.

Josh Vann, who had 43 catches for 679 yards and five touchdowns in 2021, is back as the leading receiver. This offense significantly failed, scoring 22.6 points and gaining 330 yards per game, placing in the bottom 100.

With an above-average 24 points and 374.3 yards allowed per game, the defense was considerably more of a strength.
