VMI Keydets vs Wake Forest Demon Deacons 9/1/2022 Picks Predictions Previews

The VMI Keydets will go against the #22 Wake Forest Demon Deacons in NCAAF action in Truist Field, NC, on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 7:30 PM ET.

In order to improve upon their 6-5 record from the previous year, the VMI Keydets will begin the 2022 regular season on the road.

The Keydets had a solid start to the year, going 6-2 overall, but dropped their final three contests, including a rout of ECU 52-24 in the final game of the regular season.

Seth Morgan, the team’s quarterback, had a terrible year overall, completing only 23 of his 47 passes for 205 yards and 2 touchdowns while also tossing 3 interceptions.

On the ground, Rashad Raymond topped the Keydets with 105 yards gained on 19 carries. Leroy Thomas contributed 65 yards and 11 scores to Aidan Twombly’s 88 yards and one touchdown on eight catches to establish himself as VMI’s main target.

  • The VMI Keydets are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 matches.

  • The VMI Keydets are 0-10 SU in their last 10 matches.

VMI Keydets vs Wake Forest Demon Deacons Predictions 9/1/2022

The #22 Wake Forest Demon Deacons entered the 2022 season having made a splash on the national stage the previous year, going 11-3 overall and spending time in the top 10.

Sam Hartman, the Demon Deacons’ quarterback in 2022, will again be in charge and bring a wealth of experience to the field. Last year, Hartman passed for over 4,200 yards, and he will have a number of important weapons around.

After hauling in 71 receptions in 2021, A.T. Perry, Hartman’s preferred target, is back on the field for Wake this season.

Donovan Greene will play for the Demon Deacons this season after missing 2021 due to injury, giving Hartman an excellent receiving duo.

After losing Christian Beal-Smith in the summer, Wake will rely on a two-back set this season. Justice Ellison and Christian Turner, who both racked up 500+ yards rushing last season, will share time in the backfield.

  • The Wake Forest Demon Deacons are 11-3 SU in their last 14 matches.
  • Wake Forest is 9-0 SU in their last 9 matches at home.
  • The total went UNDER in 8 of Wake Forest’s last 9 matches played in September.

VMI Keydets vs Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The NCAAF pick for this game is the #22 Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Wake Forest has much too much talent and depth going into the 2022 season for VMI to stay up.

The Demon Deacons will win handily in week 1 of the season, which has all the makings of a blowout. Hartman is a key member of the assault, but Wake Forest’s offense is strong enough to function without him while he is away.

The Demon Deacons will triumph on the scoreboard, remain balanced when necessary, and refrain from taking any significant risks since they won’t be required to.

There will be a few scoring drives from VMI, but not quite enough to match the early tempo Wake Forest will set. Expect Wake Forest to enter the season fired up and to jump all over the Keydets, winning by a wide margin.

On September 1st, bet on Wake Forest to win and cover. The #22 Wake Forest Demon Deacons will win to a predicted score of 52-3.
