This year, Kansas City was unable to string together wins consistently. Before Wednesday’s game, the Royals had not won consecutive games since April 20. They won two of three games in Colorado last weekend before falling to Chicago in the opening two matches this week.

In the second game of Tuesday’s doubleheader, Kansas City came back to win 2-1. The Royals are in the midst of an eight-game homestand, which will finish this weekend with three games against Minnesota. At the bottom of the AL Central standings, they are one game ahead of Detroit.

The Royals are towards the bottom of the majors in terms of offense, with a club batting average of 23. Edward Olivares, a rookie right fielder, had a fantastic start, hitting.371 in his first 35 at-bats. However, he is now on the 10-day disabled list due to a quad injury.
