The Rockies showed in the series opener that they are capable of bursting on offense and racking up scores quickly. Hernandez must be able to hold his ground and contribute to keeping the game in reach.

This isn’t the start on the mound that Rockies pitcher German Marquez hoped for. He had nothing but bad luck in his past four starts, with the team losing each of them.

In his first six appearances of the year, the 27-year-old righty is 0-3 with a 6.47 ERA and 1.69 WHIP. With him getting the start on Saturday, it doesn’t inspire much confidence, but then again, these are the Royals we’re talking about.

On offense, Kansas City isn’t scaring anyone, generating 3.17 runs per game. If you’re looking for another big-hitting night from the Royals’ lineup, you’ll be dissatisfied, as they hit the second-fewest home runs per game this year. So don’t expect them to repeat their performance from Friday.

If Marquez was ever going to turn matters around, this would be the ideal time. There’s also the interleague aspect to consider. As a result, these two teams are unfamiliar with one other.

In terms of offense, the Rockies will need to step up their game at the plate to avoid losing another series. Even against the Royals, Marquez is too fragile right now to trust the rubber. The bullpen in Colorado was much worse.
