Ranger Suarez will start the first game of this two-game series for the Phillies. In the Phillies’ 7-3 win over the Rockies on Wednesday, he gave three runs over six innings. Suarez’s line wasn’t pretty, as he gave up 7 hits and one walk while striking out just three batters.

In his first 18 13 innings this season, the left-hander only had 12 strikeouts. He tossed 97 pitches and pitched well for the first time this season. Throughout his first four starts, he battled with command but expected the lefty to improve. This is a decent matchup against a struggling Rangers squad.

Through their first 23 matches, Philadelphia had a great start at the plate. They have 25 home runs and are in the top 10 in runs, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage. Their issues sprung from the mound, as their starters are consistently shelled. They have a 4.10 team ERA and 1.26 WHIP while only giving up 18 home runs.
