Washington at Arizona NHL Pick Prediction 4/22/2022
Capitals: Coincidence? Despite the overtime loss in Vegas — was that a great third period for both clubs! — Alex Ovenchkin was an easy Prop winner for the Over on Shots on goal, Yes whether he would score, and, Yes, he would score twice at +400 to reach 50 goals for a record-tying ninth time in his career.
And, Yes, D.C. spent the night — perhaps, the overnight, too — in Vegas before heading south to meet the Coyotes.
The meaning? The Caps may be a tired bunch after partying in Sin City.
Why not? The Caps are basically locked into the second wildcard spot and will meet Carolina in the first round of the playoffs.
However, happy players equals happy coaches, so if the team isn’t ready for the Coyotes, they certainly will be in a look-ahead at home against Toronto — that’s a game where we’ll get great odds to take the Caps.
Coyotes: With apologies to the analytics cappers, the personal lives of the Caps is exactly why this may be the perfect time to wager on Arizona, which is obviously an inferior team.
Sure, the losing streak has now reached 8 (9-7-1 SU), but the OT game was the last outing against Carolina. So, the Coyotes are still trying to impress for jobs in 2022-23.
But does anyone want to play in this town?
Because of problems paying rent at Gila River Arena, the team will be kicked out at the end of the season, but the new arena is still two years away.
Thus, the Coyotes will play in nearby Tempe, Arioz., at the new Arizona Stauer University area — capacity: a low, low, low 5,000 sears.
Even Buffalo and Ottawa draw more fans, but the league insists that the franchise can not move — the NHL actually owned the club for 2.5 years before finding new ownership willing to tackle the club’s depth.
Thus, ticket prices are expected to double. That means if the Coyotes start slowly, expect tons of boos and protest cheering for the visitors.
Prediction: The atmosphere will be rough for these final few Arizona home games in Glendale, Ariz. The league won’t allow a temporary relocation to San Antonio, San Diego or Salt Lake, so expect a negative environment. Advantage: CAPITALS.
Ottawa at Columbus NHL Pick Prediction 4/22/2022
Overview: These clubs are built quite differently. Ottawa is more of a skating, finesse squad, while the Blue Jackets attempt to play a more physical style despite not being the biggest team in the league.
Senators: Ottawa is playing fairly decent down the stretch, 3-1-1 SU (3-2 ATS) in L5, with the regulation loss coming at Seattle, as the Kraken avenge a loss by the city of Seattle — the Metropolitans — from the 1920 Stanley Cup Final to the original “Senateurs” — it only took more than a century!
In the 21st Century, each club holds one road victory, Blue Jackets: It’s official! Columbus will play Colorado twice in Finland next season. For a club like the Avalanche, this is welcome news, making up for the lost games in Europe due to the pandemic.
However, since half of the CBJ roster won’t be returning, many (dumb) media members wondered why they weren’t happy about the news.
No wonder the Jackets are on a 3-11 ATS dose-dive to cap the season.
Prediction: If Ottawa is able to find some open ice, this would be nice road -team play in a contest of indifference. And the betting line is a pick’em… SENATORS.

Seattle at Minnesota NHL Pick Prediction 4/22/2022
Kraken: Seattle enters, raising an all-time franchise record of three straight victories, featuring a massive money-line decision over Colorado.
Plus, the Kraken has won 9-of-16 — yes, folks, that’s two games ABOVE .500 — ranking as the 14th best (of 32 teams) in the National League during the time span.
All season long, Seattle has been good for two goals per contest. Right now, it’s three goals per game, which just shows how the differences between many of the low-to-mid-level clubs is so small.
Wild: Minnesota continues its dogfight with St. Louis for the home-ice advantage in its Central Division 2/3 series pairing.
The Wild has won three straight — all in overtime — and is 6-0-2 SU /ATS in L8… PRIOR to last night’s home game with Vancouver == we have deadlines!
Prediction: Minnesota is not the obvious play because Seattle is playing that well. There are two ways to lower the chalk. Either take the Wild on the Pick Liner — not out suggestion — or take the Prop on the goalie (Talbot or Fleury) to post a shutout at +800.
Colorado at Edmonton NHL Pick Prediction 4/22/2022
Avalanche: Colorado, another victim of the look-ahead, fell in Seattle to open the rod trip.
That means a wager on the AVALANCHE, especially against an Edmonton squad which might need an engine tune-up,
Colorado won nine straight before the current 2=game slide, but the Washington game was a coin-flip game, so there’s nothing wrong with the Avs.
Oilers: Edmonton is 0-2 vs. Colorado, both in extended play. The first game went to overtime; the second decided in a shootout.
That second setback came just 13 days ago, so the recent revenge angle is in play, as the Oilers seek to extend a 3-game win streak to avoid being caught by L.A. for second place.
Prediction: Several betting angles collide in this one. We prefer the deeper team with more lines that can score — and as the road team, we also receive a value prize — AVALANCHE.
