Dallas at Edmonton NHL Pick Prediction 4/20/2022
Stars (+140): The magic number for Dallas to clinch the second wild card berth is seven points over Vegas, which basically ended its own fortunes by falling at home to New Jersey.
The Stars remained tied with Nashville for both wild card berths, but the lower of the seeds plays Colorado in the first round, a vast difference than playing Pacific Division leasing Calgary.
For Dallas to win here, the penalty kill unit must play more to how well it played last season, since Edmonton is No. 3 on the power play.
Dallas leads the season series, 2-0. In November, it was 4-1; then 5-3 last month.
Oilers (–160): The funny thing about the Connor McDavid-led offense is how the club is actually playing — for them — some pretty good defense of late.
And it’s not just 40-year old goalie Mike Smith. On home ice, the Oilers get second-choice pairings on which blue-liners defend which lines. The counter-argument is that Dallas doesn’t really have an ultimate No. 1 line, so coaching decisions here can be critical.
One key choice for Edmonton: who will be the goalie? After alternating for the past few months, Smith received a second straight start after he shutout Nashville, 4-0, then extended his scoreless streak to more than 120 minutes by blanking Vegas, also 4-0.
Will Smith be allowed to go for a three-peat, especially at his age, or return 25-game winner Mikko Koskinen to the net.
Prediction: The Stars already know how to slow the Oilers offense, they’re playing well, and they do not want to meet Colorado in the first round. Plus, as the road team and underdog, they are the better value. Take the… STARS.
Chicago at Arizona NHL Pick Prediction 4/20/2022
Blackhawks (-160): At least Chicago is a “real” National League program; the Coyotes look much like their Tucson (AHL) Roadrunners affiliate — “Beep! Beep!”
The Hawks can thank National League governors for keeping them out of last place. Because the expansion Seattle Kraken were placed in the Pacific Division along with nearby Vancouver, one team needed to switch to the Central Division and Arizona was chosen over Vegas.
Coyotes: This is Arizona’s last chance to prove they are not a true last-place team in the 7/8 battle in the Central Division.
However, that revenge spot may have been two weeks ago when they recorded their last win — in Chicago in overtime. Since then, Arizona has dropped seven straight.
Prediction: Technically, Chicago is in a fairly recent revenge spot, but at -160, it’s not worth the play and it’s a game no one actually wants to witness. The lean toward the UNDER, but we’re not holding our breath.

Colorado at Seattle NHL Pick Prediction 4/20/2022
Avalanche (-380): Don’t say it’s impossible because the last time Colorado took the ice, they saw their 7-game win streak snapped by visiting Washington.
It seems, the Avs would like to repeat as President’s Trophy champions. Since they are tied for No. 1 with Florida at 116 points, this is a must-win — a “must-win” against Seattle?
Kraken: Seattle had a chance to win three consecutive games for the first time in franchise history, after dropping Ottawa, 4-2, in the first meeting between the cities since the 1920 Stanley Cup Final — only a century ago!
Seattle has won 7-of-13 — better than more than half of the teams in the league, so there’s no looking to the gold course here.
Prediction: Still, Seattle is playing a Colorado squad coming off a loss. And it’s a back-to-back situation for the Kraken. It’s the AVALANCHE, but it would be better to find some sort of Prop or a Puck Line play.
Washington at Vegas NHL Pick Prediction 4/20/2022
Capitals: Suddenly, D.C. has a chance to avoid Florida after taking down Western Conference leading Colorado. Ifthey can surpass Boston for the top wild card spot, that means missing East leading Florida — it’s a real incentive and not just a move in the standings.
The Props on Alex Ovechkin either scoring a goal and/or taking more than 3.5 shots on goal is running hot. He needs two more goals to reach the coveted 50-goal plateau.
We just hope that Ovechkin, a man who loves to party, waits until after the game to visit his favorite adult entertainers (like he did four years ago when the Caps won the Stanley Cup in Las Vegas).
Go’Knights (-130): If Vegas is really interested in a playoff berth, the effort against New Jersey would have been vastly different. Still, losing 3-2 to the Devils has all-but-mathematically ended any postseason hopes.
In fact, there’s a better probability they will fall below Vancouver to finish 10th in the conference.
Prediction: Vegas is done. CAPITALS, and at plus-money!
