Carolina at Arizona NHL Pick Prediction 4/18/2022
Hurricanes: One of the (possible) biggest nightmares occurred Saturday when Vezina Trophy candidate Frederik Andersen was injured against Colorado, along with team captain Captain Jordan Staal .
While we wait for a long-term diagnosis, let’s be fair about this game with the Coyotes: backup Antti Raanta was already slated to start in this game, so the “Win one for the Gipper” speech will fall on deaf ears.
Raanta spent five seasons with the Coyotes, the first as the part-time starter, then four years as the clear back-up, winning 101 games wearing the Kachina Coyote on his crest.
Meanwhile, Stall left midway through the third period after scoring twice against the Avalanche.
This is the third game six in six cities. After this game with “Jets 1.0” (the former Winnipeg Jets), they will host “{Jets 2.0” (Winnipeg) before heading to the tri-state area.
The Hurricanes have been in first place for virtually the entire season. But if you look more closely at the standings, they share the lead with the NY Rangers with 104 points.
However, the tie-breaker is the ROW number (Regulation and Overtime Wins; not juts regulation wins), so Carolina technically holds the tie-breaker even though NYR had more outright victories.
Does Carolina want to win the Metro Division? If they do, they will probably meet Washington. If they fall below NYR, they get the… Penguins — yes, they want to win and avoid Steel City.
Coyotes: Arizona rookies Jack McBain and Nathan Smith both played in their first career NHL game against New Jersey. The result: no difference; they lost.
The Yotes are +300 at home. Need we say more?
Prediction: Carolina is the obvious pick, but does one risk a Puck Line play. As always, we suggest a money-line round–robin parlay with 3-4 other teams to get a +200 to +300 return..
Calgary at Chicago NHL Pick Prediction 4/18/2022
Flames: In a night of huge money-line faves, Calgary is the biggest at -360… and they’re on the road!
We are starting to notice differences in the Flames since the loss of Bottom-6 six center Sean Monahan.
Although at the corner he used to be, the power play conversion rate is down a tick, putting more pressure on the top two lines — the same problem that is happening in Edmonton. That means, we might need to fade both clubs come playoff time.
Byt let’s project on that. As the top two seeds, both could win in the first round against (L.A., Vegas, etc.),then meet each other in the quarterfinals. That means if we fade the Albertans, we favor the winner out of the Central Division to play for the Stanley Cup.
Thus, future bets on Colorado, St. Louis, Minnesota or Dallas may be the way to go eight now.
As for this game, Chicago already has tee times registered for the summer golf season.
Blackhawks: .Except for a shootout win over San Jose last week, Chicago hasn’t won a game in regulation time since –it’s been almost a month! –March 23.
Prediction: Take the FLAMES in a round-robin parlay because the risk on the Puck Line is too great.
New Jersey at Vegas NHL Pick Prediction 4/18/2022
Devils: New Jersey is looking at prospects, especially since star forward Jack Hughes was removed from the injury list to the “long0term” injury list.
But there are options on wagering on NHD games.
The Devils have a wild streak of the third-period Only going Over in 20 of 22 games. The streak of a full game going over has slowed down, but the youngsters are simply losing their legs against opponents which over-match them, explaining the third-period collapses.
Go’Knights: Vegas is in desperation mode and needs a win to move within one point of third-place L.A. — the Knights are closer to a playoff berth in the division, not the wild card berths.
Much of the Vegas starting defense, including all-star and captain Mark Stone is back, but the club may need to stay with rookie Jordan Thompson in goal for a few more days with starter Robin Lehner due to a family illness.
Note: There are whispers that the players would rather have Thompson because they don’t trust Lehner, depending on how you read social media.
Prediction: The above mentioned Total for the Third Period Only OVER is my Play of the Day. As for the side, it’s the KNIGHTS (-320) in a round-robin parlay with Carolina, Colorado and Calgary.
Notable: SHould Vegas advance to postseason play, they cold carry, in theory, 25 skaters because the salary cap rules are no longer in effect. Thus, if Vegas gets in and meets Edmonton, the Oilers may be intri=double physically, since they are much thinner roster-wise.

Dallas at Vancouver NHL Pick Prediction 4/18/2022
Stars: In a weekend when the faves went 14-0 on Saturday and 5-1 or 6-0 (Anaheim was a dog on one cast; a faves on the other) on Sunday — that’s an incredible 19-1 mark — and with so many -200 or higher lines on Monday, this is Game of the Night!
Dallas at Vancouver is “game p’ the night?” Yes, the sky is falling.
The Stars and Nashville are tied for both wild card berths, with Vegas is four points back and is closer to L.A. for third in their division.
Thus, there isn’t much pressure for Dallas to perform here, except that the higher wild card will get Calgary in the first round of the playoffs, the other gets Colorado.
Canucks: Vancouver has won five straight with points in six straight and soared the Canucks into a faint breath of playoff hope.
They’ve scored26 goals in the five wins, looking almost as good on offense as St.Louis.
If they can get within a point or two, The Vanc closes the season with L.A. at home, then at Edmonton.
Yes, late-season excitement in B.C. is growing — and it’s not because of B.C. Lions football training camp.
Prediction: There are better plays, but this is a game worthy of atching. Instead f a side, I lean toward an UNDER 6 goals.
Ottawa at Seattle NHL Pick Prediction 4/18/2022
Senators: A professional hockey team representing Ottawa makes its first-ever appearance in Seattle since the pre-NHL Stanley Cup finals against the Seattle Metropolitans in 1920 were played exclusively in Ottawa and Toronto.
A nice late-season run has the Senators winning 6-of-7 on the road, including Boston, Dallas and Winnipeg. Still, Seattle is a -120 favorite at home.
Kraken: Seattle is unpredictable, going 1-1 ATS, 2-2 ATS, 3-3 ATS — for the record, they defeated New Jersey in a shootout last time out, so are they “due” for a loss?
The clubs met a month ago in the Capital District, when the Sens won in overtime.
PredictionL One problem for Ottawa: allowing too many shot on goal. One problem for Seattle:L not taking enough shots. Thus, I would lean toward the Under, but Seattle always seems to score twice,so that play isn’t practical. PASS.
Washington at Colorado NHL Pick Prediction 4/18/2022
Capitals: When D.C. captured its lone Stanley Cup, if they projected prior to the start of the tournament, they might have picked a Finals opponent in Colorado — but the Avs gagged and fell in the first round to Nashville in six games.
This meeting would be considered a great last-season contest, except that the Caps are all-but-locked into 8th place in the East, while Colorado is all-bu-locked into Nio. 1 in the West.
Alex Ovechkin need a hat trick to reach 60 goals for the season, so look at the “Props” wager of “O.V.” at OVER 3.5 shots on goal.
Avalanche: This showcase game featuring Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen going against Ovechkin should be great fun.
Rantanen needs 9 points over the final 8 games to reach 100 points — quite do-able.
Normally in the Avs rotation, backup goalie Pavel Francouz would get the start, but Colorado might instead utilize Darcy Kuemper to showcase him for East Coast votes in the Vezina race.
Prediction: Colorado (-200) should win, but they have no real reason to put it all on the line and D.C. is just trying to pad its statistics. If they let the skaters wheel-and-deal, the OVER should be an easy play, but check on the goalies first.
