Washington Nationals vs Pittsburgh Pirates 4/15/2022 Picks Predictions Previews

The Washington Nationals will meet with the Pittsburgh Pirates in MLB action in Pnc Park, PA, on Friday, April 15, 2022, at 6:35 PM (EDT).

With the setback on Thursday night, the Nationals dropped to 2-2 on the road and 3-4 overall. After being granted a 3-1 lead, starting pitcher Joan Aden underperformed and was removed after 4.2 innings. After surrendering 9 hits, 6 runs, and 3 walks in his second appearance, the right-hander fell to 0-2 on the season.

On the night, Aden also surrendered two home runs. The bullpen didn’t fare much better, giving up three runs in three innings. Yadiel Hernandez, the left fielder for Washington, had a nice night. He went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in on the night.

Although their lineup did not help them, Washington got off to an unexpectedly good start. They are hitting .221 as a team, which ranks them 19th in the majors, and their runs per game are 20th.

The lineup’s centerpiece is all-star RF Juan Soto, who is quickly establishing himself as one of the game’s best five players, but the roster lacks spark around him. In the second game of the series, Eric Fedde will take the mound after a strong showing against the Mets.

In a no-decision that resulted in a 4-2 Nationals victory, he gave up two runs on five hits in five innings of work. Fedde struggled last year, going 7-9 with a 5.47 ERA and allowing 23 home runs in just 133 innings thrown.

  • The Washington Nationals are 3-10 SU in their last 13 matches.
  • Washington is 6-3 SU in their last 9 matches against Pittsburgh.
  • The total went OVER in 4 of Washington’s last 5 matches on the road.

Washington Nationals vs Pittsburgh Pirates Predictions 4/15/2022

Before the match, the Pirates released some excellent news, and the good news continued throughout the game. Before the match, Pittsburgh revealed that CF Bryan Reynolds signed a long-term contract deal. As the only all-star Pirate from a year ago, Reynolds is the subject of several trade speculations.

Instead, Pittsburgh acquired the outfielder, making Reynolds and 3B Ke’Bryan Hayes, who was also just signed, the team’s foundational blocks. The Pirates’ bats provided the good news during the game.

Daniel Vogelbach, the team’s designated hitter and leadoff hitter, had four hits in six at-bats, including a solo home run in the opening inning. In the triumph, he drove in two runs and scored three. Reynolds hit a solo home run to commemorate his contract extension and drove in 3 runs on the night.

In game two, the Pirates will go with Mitch Keller. Keller dropped his debut start, going only four innings and allowing six hits and four runs in a 6-2 defeat to the Cardinals. Keller finished 5-11 with a 6.17 ERA in 23 starts last season. In a little over 100 innings thrown, he gave up 133 hits.

Pittsburgh’s bats are on fire, batting .260 as a club, good for sixth in the majors. Hayes is the team’s best hitter, hitting .409 right away. The Pirates are experimenting with the lineup to give Reynolds and Hayes more chances to drive in runs. So far this season, the two collaborated for only two RBI.

  • The total went UNDER in 12 of Pittsburgh’s last 18 matches against Washington.
  • Pittsburgh is 4-2 SU in their last 6 matches at home.
  • The total went OVER in 5 of Pittsburgh’s last 7 matches in the National League East Division.

Washington Nationals vs Pittsburgh Pirates. The MLB pick for this game is the Pittsburgh Pirates. In this clash of two fairly ordinary and hittable pitchers, the run line appears to be the most rewarding wager.

I’m going with a Pirate offense that is currently hitting the ball significantly better than the Nationals. Vogelbach’s performance in the leadoff spot might be a surprise for the Pirates, who are seeking someone to contribute OBP behind Reynolds and Hayes.

Beyond Soto and DH Nelson Cruz, Washington’s rotation is underperforming at the moment and, even at its best, is relatively limited. Expect the Pirates to string up hits and take care of business once more at PNC Park. Pittsburgh will win to a predicted score of 6-3.
