Senators: When Ottawa goes toe-to-toe with opponents of similar caliber keep proving they can win, including their last outing when Tim Stützle had two goals and an assist to down Detroit, 4-1.
But against quality opposition, especially on the road, it needs to be a 1-0 ro 2-1 type contest or things could break apart early, similar to last night’s Colorado drubbing of L.A.
So if you want to wager pizza money on a one-team parlay of OTTAWA and UNDER, be my guest, but I don’t see it.
Bruis: Likewise, a bet on Boston is as dangerous as Florida’s no-show effort at home to Buffalo at -400.
Everyone knows the top NHL teams will be allowed to mess up once in a while to get rest due to the condensed schedule, but unlike the NBA and the resting of players, the league just does not acknowledge the situation.
Predictions: Boston? Yes. Puck line? No. It’s the BRUINS ONLY in a round-robin parlay with other $3 favorites.
Detroit at Carolina NHL Pick Prediction 4/14/2022
Red Wings: Detroit proudly (?) announced that its season is not even coming close in a home setback to Ottawa.
Sure, others will state that the Red Wings are 2-1-1 SU )2-2 ATS) in L4, with wins over Boston and Winnipeg. But this span of five games in five cities will be too much, and it’s likely that I will not gain even a “loser point” over the next week.
Hurricanes: In the past week, Carolina has lost at home to Buffalo and Anaheim: could Detroit be next?
If so, the entire roster of skaters and coaches need to reach into their collective pockets and refund money to the season ticket holders..
Prediction: Generally, I am against Puck Line plays, but this situation is too juicy… CANES on Puck Line.
St. Louis at Buffalo NHL Pick Prediction 4/14/2022
Blues: St. Louis is a remarkable 8-0-1 SU (8-1 ATS) in L9. However, when you think about the hottest NHL clubs from over the past week or two, do you really think about the Blues?
This is my reason to avoid St. Louis, a club I have not trusted since around New Year’s.
The Blues offense is red-hot, scoring no fewer than four goals in 9 straight games. And with a defense that does allow goals, but it hasn’t resulted in a ton of Overs since a ton of scores finished 4-1 and the betting Total is lately found at 6, and 6.5 is expected here.
Sabres: Buffalo lost three straight and her headed to oblivion… then they went to Toronto and handed their (bleep) on a platter.
I can’t explain it, you can’t explain it, but top teams always take days off to ruin parlays. That’s why I almost always recommend robin-robin parlays just in case.
Besides, no one == fan or bettor — has trusted the Maple Leafs since 1967.
Prediction, While using an exact score hedge )prop) of 4-1 and 5-1, I really like a one-team parlay of BLUES and OVER.
Vegas at Calgary NHL Pick Prediction 4/14/2022
Go Knights: Captain Mark Stone is back, but is he really healthy (enough)? Still, his return coincided with the sudden improved play of Shea Theodore, who has four goals in his L5, as VGK set a single-season record for goals from the blue-liners.
Meanwhile, Alec Martinez, who just returned about 10 days ago, posted two points as Vegas rallied to force overtime in a loss at Vancouver.
Although a third-place finish is fading, tVGK remains in the wild card hunt, but they play games in Alberta, then three at home, then end with three on the road for one of the tougher schedules to close the season among Western Conference clubs.
Flames: Following home losses to L.A. and St. Louis, Calgary is back on all cylinders, and the schedule is among the easiest around.
There are no look-aheads with Arizona and Chicago to cap the week, so three wins can clinch a Pacific Division title so they won’t need to worry about the final six contests, including Nashville (twice), Minnesota or Dallas.
Prediction: At mid-season, this is an obvious value play on VGK, but the Go Knights are starting to fade and Calgary is starting to wind-up for the playoffs. The pick is the FLAMES, but if the number is too high for you, there’s always that round-robin parlay with heavy favs.
San Jose at Chicago NHL Pick Prediction 4/14/2022
Overview: Seriously, if you feel a “need” to wager on this contest, seek counseling. There is nothing advantageous on either side unless you’re guessing.
The last time Chicago was this big of a fav at home, the Kings trained them.
The last time St. Joseph was this big of an underdog on the road was Calgary’s wake up call. Since then, the Sharks are 0-4-1 SU (0-5 ATS) on the road, although they did get a “loser point” at Nashville.
Prediction: Get medical help immediately.
New Jersey at Colorado NHL Pick Prediction 4/14/2022
Overview: A make-up game from the COVID postponements era finds Colorado playing at home for the second straight night.
Yesterday, their ears perked in a slaughter of L.A., 9-1, so reserves and a backup goalie should be ready for this one.
Devils: The Devils have been horrible on the road, then they start a five-game trip west of the Mississippi with wins in Dallas and Arizona — go figure! — snapping a 9-game road losing string.
Prediction: For pizza money (cheese, not sausage) go ahead and take a chance on NJD. Otherwise, it’s Colorado on a round-robin parlay because a Puck Line play in a back-to-back situation is unwarranted.

Wild: Minnesota is hot-hot-hot.

Prediction: Both of these clubs will be difficult to face in the opening round of the playoffs… unless they meet each other. It’s already playoff time for both, so keep the wagering simple and play the… UNDER.
NY Islanders at Pittsburgh NHL Pick Prediction 4/14/2022
Isles: The Islander Boys took the first game of this home-and-home series, and in similar situations ’round the league, the loser usually (not always) gains a series split — which doesn’t bode well for NYI.
The long season found goalie Ilya Sorokin making a career-high 43 saves after facing a career-high 47 shots on Tuesday.
That menas, the Islanders prevented the Penguins from clinching a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. However, Pittsburgh already knew this back in December, so it’s only special for the fans, not the players.
Penguins: This is Pittsburgh’s seventh game in 10 cities — the last start was the lone home game in a shootout win over Pittsburgh — so this is also the back end of a home-and-home series.

Anaheim at Tampa Bay NHL Pick Prediction 4/14/2022
Ducks: Face your mental health issues and get help now. Anaheim is a response to your illness, not the cause.
Lightning: The two–time Stanley Cup champions are playing one of the poorest teams in the National League — and at home during the final weeks of the season.
Prediction: This is only one choice, otherwise, you are a liar (to yourself_: the BOLTS as part of a round-robin parlay.
Arizona at Vancouver NHL Pick Prediction 4/14/2022
Overview: Wow! Hockeyreference.com gives the Arizona Coyotes a 70-percent chance of winning. This would’ve been unheard of just 2-3 months ago.
Coyotes: Arizona is 2-10-1 SU (2-12 ATS) in L 13 and sinking quickly. In fact, both Montreal and Seattle are now expected to finish above the Ypres.
This team has also allowed five goals or more in 6-of-8, yet it’s not always an Over because they seem to have given up trying to fix the poorest power play in the National League.
Canucks: Vancouver is on a 4-game winning streak, with points in 4-of-5 and look like a possible team to register a first-round upset in the postseason… except, they won’t be making the playoffs.
The team looks like its fighting for jobs on the 2022-23 Canucks, and Bruce Boudreau will battle with L.A. Todd Mcllewen for the Jack Adams Trophy as coach of the year.
And with four of their final eight against non-playoff teams — one of the middle teams in the West has to mathematically miss gaining entry — a ninth-place finish in conference would be remarkable.
Prediction: Sure, lay the chalk on the CANUCKS… did i really say that? Yup, and I already bet it on the overnight line!
Edmonton at Nashville NHL Pick Prediction 4/14/2022
Oilers: Name the Edmonton playoff goalie? I may not know, but they don’t either — and Marc-Andre Fleury is no longer available (those cheap Oilers ownership groups).
Really, are they even interested in challenging Calgary to come out of the Pacific Division.
Long term, I am fading Oil City, so I might as well start here.
Predators: Nashville holds the tiebreaker over Dallas for the higher wild-card berth, yet will remain the 7th/8th seed since third-place clubs (in this case, L.A.) will be seeded above them/Surely, Nashville would rather play Minnesota or St. Louis rather than Colorado or Calgary, so they need a win in this spot.
The team can now face team challenges after the main individual treasure has been found: team captain Roman Jose finally broke Paul Kariya’s single-season franchise record for scoring.
In addition, Josi became the 10th defenseman in National League history to compile 87 points.
Nashville is a nice 5-2-1 SU (5-3 ATS) in L8.
Prediction: The chalk isn’t that heavy because square bettors know all about Edmonton and little about Smash-ville. The price is okay, so take the PREDS.
Washington at Toronto NHL Pick Prediction 4/14/2022
Capitals: D.C. owns a 15-point lead over the Islanders, so quit all the hollering from those of you on Long Island.
Last time we talked about the Caps, they were in a Win-3, Lose-3 streak of 12 games. Since then, they’ve won four straight and are beginning their build-up to the playoffs.
Maple Leafs: They have been in a dog fight for a postseason berth better, the homer-ice advantage) for at least a month, so they are due for a let-down… like they did at home to Buffalo the other night. It was a horrible performance to snap a 7-0-1 streak.
Yes, the Leafs are supposed to bounce back against D.C., but with Ottawa up next, they have no excuse but to come out strong. Alas, these are the Leafs, so trusting them is low.
A position: Jack Campbell is expected to return to the net.
Prediction: I have been wrong on Toronto — win or lose — all season. I have been right on the Caps all season, so this seems not to be a personal clash of thought. So I will go analytics and take the value play for half-a-unit, the CAPITALS.
