After failing to reach the playoffs for the second straight year last year, Philadelphia’s postseason skid now spans more than a decade. The Phillies added some larger hitters to an already threatening lineup in the summer, so the fan base has cause to be enthusiastic about this season.

They added Nick Castellanos and Kyle Schwarber from Cincinnati, giving Bryce Harper, who is returning from his second NL MVP, more power and protection.

Last year, Harper was forced to play without both of those colleagues, as well as Rhys Hoskins, for the last month of the year due to injuries. This offense has the potential to be Philadelphia’s greatest since the 2008 World Series club.

Second baseman Jean Segura, who is a fixture in the lineup, joins Schwarber, Harper, Castellanos, and Hoskins. J.T.
