Tampa Bay at Washington NHL Pick Prediction 4/6/2022

Lightning: Everyone thinks about Tampa Bay’s offense, yet they own two Stanley Cups with a terrific defense and the best goalie in the world in Andrei Vasilevskiy, who now has 30 victories for the fifth straight season.

There is a touch of worry that the return to the stingy defensive play that defined their last two Cup runs is still missing, especially after their last outing, a 6-2 loss to Toronto.

However, scheduling dynamics made the Leafs game a target game, and with Boston on-deck, the Bolts should be focused once again.

Capitals: No one has heard much about D.C. of late, which will probably be the second wild card team in the Eastern Division.

There’s no one to catch, yet no club to avoid, as they prepare for either Carolina or Florida.

Although this could be a measuring-stick affair, the Caps seem fine by playing starting goalie Vitek Vanecek twice every three contests, while Ilya Samsonov is 2-0-1 in his last five appearances but 17-11-5 SU (17-16 ATS).

In a stretch of 9-of-13 at home, this would be critical since D.C. finished the season with 5-of-9 on the road. But since they’re not going anywhere in the playoffs, alternating between streaks of 2W and 2L over the past 10 games — in this one, they are due for a win.

Prediction: Tampa Bay has no problems and will bounce back. Washington has no problems, yet doesn’t need a bounce back. Many times, a play on the contrary team is in order, but these are the champions we’re pointing to… the LIGHTNING.

Calgary at Anaheim NHL Pick Prediction 4/6/2022

Flames: Sadly, it’s official. Calgary center Sean Monahan did bust his hip, had surgery, and is gone for the balance of the regular season. It’s the opposite hip from the one that also went under the knife last season.

At least the Flames ended a mild losing skid in L.A., preventing the Kings from grabbing a share of the Pacific Division lead. But now what without Monahan, their former top line center for the club.

During the losing streak, a 44-1-1 record ended when L.A. came back from a third-period deficit, making Calgary 33-1-2 in such a spot when they fell in overtime. So it was a gutsy effort in the return match in L.A.

Plus, head coach Darryl Sutter is unhappy with the penalty kill unit.

We suggested Calgary might be a team to fade early into the Stanley Cup playoffs. However, a first-round nose=dive to, say Edmonton — that would be a war — is a distinct possibility.

Anaheim: Just like chicken soup, Duck soup is everybody’s rem on how to get healthy.

When Anaheim sent away no fewer than five skaters prior to the trade deadline, the players revolted — an 11-game losing streak — but the media was kind to head coach Dallas Eakings, placing the blame solely on general manager Bob Murray, who was reassigned and replaced by former Detroit assistant Gm Pat Verbeek.

The Ducks ended their skid with a surprising shutout win (as a betting favorite) in Arizona, then returned to form in a 6-1 home loss to Edmonton.

Prediction: If there was an award for the best player on a non-playoff team each season, just hand the trophy right now to Anaheim goalie John Gibson. Otherwise, lay the lumber on the FLAMES or play the Under.

Seattle at St. Louis NHL Pick Prediction 4/6/2022

Kraken: These are not your older brother’s Vegas Golden Knights, but they are not the expansion Washington Capitals either.

Seattle needed 28 games to win 10 times, then the terrible 9-game slow followed, But since then, it took just 27 games to win their “second 10.” Since then Seattle has one 2-3-0 SU/ATS with spots with L.A. and Vegas, then soundly defeating Dallas, 4-1.

Over the decades, expansion clubs usually hit a wall by now, but the Kraken have been steady.at 5-4-1 SU in L10.

Blues: The St. Louis’ mini-slump is over and the Blues are 4-0-1 SU in L5, but the lone quality win was to Calgary.

With starting goalie Ville Husso due for a night off, Seattle would be the right spot to play Jordan Binnington, but his save percentage is a tick under 90 percent — not good.

Prediction: If Binnington is in the St. Louis net, the UNDER looks really good. A small play on the KRAKEN might also be in order for players seeking an Upset Special.

Vancouver at Vegas NHL Pick Prediction 4/6/2022

Canucks: It’s a sort of homecoming for Vancouver goalie Thatcher Demko, who hails from — of all places — San Diego, which is better known as home of many of the world’s greatest triathlons (they just hold on in nearby Oceanside over the weekend).

Sure, Anaheim and L.A. are closer, vet where would you rather visit?

The Canucks’ nice run in February into early March (8-2-1 SU) came to an end in March (3-5-3 SU), However, the team is on a current 4-1-1 run on the road, with the last three hitting a game Total of 5.

Golden Knights: What does Vegas and the L.A. Kings have in common of late? Only1-2 skaters are wearing red jerseys at practice, which means most of the missing wounded will be back this week.

However, be careful. Reilly Smith and Max Pacioretty remain on the IR, while captain Mark Stone is on the long-term IR list.

Logan Thompson enjoyed a surprising strong stay in net, but Robin Lehner’s comeback in Vancouver was sound after four weeks on the shelf.

Prediction: In the back end of home-and-home series, the losing team has often come back to gain a split over recent weeks, but there is nothing for the Canucks to play for. Meanwhile, Vegas has far fewer games remaining than others, so their chances of retaining grow slimmer unless they win here. Yes, the pick is VGK, but the price to play is too much, so perhaps a Pick Line play is the way to go.

Detroit at Winnipeg NHL Pick Prediction 4/6/2022

Red Wings: Detroit was dead in the water, then step up and beat Boston at its own game with some toughness, to climb back from a 2-goal deficit and put curtains om a 6-game losing streak.

Bully for them.

Now it’s a quick visit over the bridge to Winsor, the on to Manitoba.

Alex Nedeljkovic contributed 47 saves as the Wings (27-34-9) won for the first time since March 22..

Jets: Time is running out on Winnipeg, who are six points down in the wild card hunt, but need to pass two teams to make the playoffs mathematically, it’s more like 8-to-9 points because teams play each other and the tie-breaker rules.

This was a club which made such a promise in October, but then head coach Paul Maurice knew something when he resigned and has been mum about it.

For me, this is one of the toughest clubs to handicap, with B+ goaltending, B+ defense and B scoring. Thus, no long winning or losing streaks.

Thus, it seems to work to always take the value play: Jets on the road and the opponent when in Manitoba.

Prediction: Both sides have been “loose” on the back end of late, so the first choice is the OVER, with a small pay on the RED WINGS.
