Carolina at Tampa Bay NHL Pick Prediction 3/29/2022

Lightning: First things first. The Lightning were on the road so their arena could host the Isobel Cup, symbolizing the champion of PHF women’s professional hockey. We told you the third-seeded Boston Prive would provide a pair of upsets to capture the crown — and they did! A pair of plus-money victories

That’s right: a New England club wins in Tampa Bay — take that, Tom Brady! A trio of third-period goals allowed the Price to trip the top-seeded Connecticut Whale, 4-2, for Boston’s’ second straight tile.

Speaking of two-time titlists, the Lightning will host their fifth annual Pride Night when hosting the Hurricanes in a vastly important match-up with strong implications inside Amalie Arena.

The Bolts capped a nice roadtrip with a surprisingly easy victory at the NY Islanders, courtesy of the new third line consisting of Ross Colton, Nick Paul, and Brandon Hagel.

Meanwhile, the struggling power play unit woke up with three PPGs in the back-to-back contests, both wins, to close the trip.

Depth and special teams: reasons why Tampa Bay owns a real shot at a third consecutive Stanley Cup.

Hurricanes: Perhaps the top challenger to TBL in the Eastern Conference, Carolina has already own road wins at ST. Louis and Washington, but now a third game in four nights will e the most challenging in this brief excursion. However without a look-ahead opponent of any stature — Montreal will be a live rod dog on Thursday — a Canes defense which has allowed just the goals or fewer (usually fewer) in 10 of L11 will keep them in contention.

Prediction: Could this be an Eastern Conference previews. Question to the players receive virtually no response, so they know this is a big one. We prefer the better defensive club, but, really, which on is it. We’ll take the hotter goalie, Frederik Andersen of the HURRICANES.

Dallas at Anaheim NHL Pick Prediction 3/29/2022

Stars: Dallas visits Southern California just one point behind Vegas for the eighth and final Western Conference playoff berth, yet have four full games in-hand.

However, since COVID issues barely touched Vegas all season, everyone in the league (almost) holds games in-hand on the Golden Knights. Even their own radio crew admits the chances of missing the playoffs for the first time in franchise history is extremely high.

Still, the Stars need to pass other clubs, too, and the sinking Ducks are the perfect excuse to gain two points. And news from Stars camp is all positive

Miro Heiskanen is expected to re-join the line-up, balancing the team’s top three lines. Meanwhile, Jason Robertson, an L.A. County’s native, arrived to “SoCal” early for a 5-day stay with friends and family.

This is the first of a 2-game series at Honda Center, with a vert short trend shows the favorite winning the first game, but the second game is tipping the other way, including last night’s Seattle victory at the L.A. Kings.

Dallas had won three straight, but then got bounced at home to Vancouver. How the club responds here may be more important to their psyche than their place in the standing.

Ducks: Even from across the I-5 freeway, no magic from the Magic Kingdom has helped Anaheim, loses of nine straight (0-7-2 SU, 0-9 ATS).

The last time the Ducks won two straight in regulation time: mid-January at Montreal and Ottawa.

The last time they scored four goals: Mar. 4 in a 5-4 loss to Vegas — ask Chicago about that score!

Prediction: Can the Ducks find any reason to aid goalie John Gibso, who could be a Vezina contender except that’s he gets the loss every night — it’s not his fault.. STARS.

Toronto at Boston NHL Pick Prediction 3/29/2022

Maple Leafs: Please note: the report on Jack Campbell was not written properly! The starting Maple Leafs goalie is expected on the ice — for the morning skate — on Tuesday following a rib injury. His timetable for again starting is to be announced, probably after Wednesday’s practice for a start Thursday at home to Winnipeg on nation television.

Problem: Campbell was an early-season Vezina candidate, but has an .882 save percentage since the calendar year advanced, meaning fans might prefer youngster Erik Kallgren — well, except Fantasy players.

The inconsistent Leafs keep alternating a win with a loss and visa-versa. Last outing was a win. You figure out the next step (4-4 SU/ATS in LL8, 6-6 SU/ATS in L12)).

Bruins: The two-time Isobel Cup champion Boston Pride of the PHF women’s pro hockey league will be honored in pre-game ceremonies. We don’t foresee that effecting the betting line — duh!

These clubs are tied for third place in the Atlantic Division with identical 41-19-5 records at 87 points, one behind second-standing Tampa Bay. This, the loser becomes the “favorite” to meet Carolina in the first round of the playoffs, something neither club looks forward to meeting. And since there is an exact deadlock, this game holds huge tie-breaker ramifications.

Erik Haula has been heating up lately and is now the Bruins second-leading center. Top center Patrice Bergeron says thank you,, as the other top center, Charlie Coyle, is slumping.

Prediction: In pairings like this, I usually take the value price and would go with Toronto. But there play of later is supect, while Boston has won four straight and 7-of-8… BRUINS.

Colorado at Calgary NHL Pick Prediction 3/29/2022

Avalanche: The two Western Conference leaders clash for the final time, as Central Division frontrunner Colorado heads north to face Pacific Division leading Calgary.

ALERT! Traditional national media just started writing about betting on the Avs. One recent headline, “Colorado Avalanche enjoy the best NHL betting trends of the season.’

Translation: Don’t bet the Avalanche le the squares instead take Colorado.

Cale Makar just became the franchise’s top single-season scoring defenseman, while right wing Mikko Rantanen remains on pace (barely) to register 50 goals, if he doesn’t miss anymore games.

Flames: Calgary forward Johnny Goudreau was just named the NHL’s Second Star of the week for his game against Edmonton with five assists.

In fact, the Flames are going so good, the club, once 40-1 to capture the Stanley Cup, are now down to single-digits and could be Canada’s top chance to actually win the Stanley Cup in three decades (’93 Montreal Canadiens).

Calgary is 6-2-1 SU (7-3 ATS) in L9.enjoying the home cooking playing 7-of-8 at Saddledome.

Prediction: In this situation, the value play is always on the road team (Avs -105), while Calgary wants to bounce back from a 2-7 ATS in L( streak against the Avs… FLAMES.

Philadelphia at Minnesota NHL Pick Prediction 3/29/2022

Flyers: This time of year, so many home favorites in look-ahead situations seem to fail, and the club doing much of the damage is Philadelphia, recently called “the worst team in NHL.”

Perhaps, but a win is a win, especially at +200 or better! The recent wins Nashville, Islanders, St. Louis.

Of course Philly is still 3-6-1 SU (3-7 ATS) in L10, but picking and choosing the Flyers when — instead of betting $100 or win $200 — it might e better to bet $40 to win more than $100, limiting the liability.

And as long as Minnesota holds a 1-goal lead, the Flyers might be able to force overtime, which is fine with the Wild because that one standings point goes to the East and doesn’t effect the Western Conference race.

LOOK OUT — The Flyers are 1-15 ATS (1-13-2 SU) on the road in L16 since Dec. 28, a win in Seattle.

Wild: Goalie-=mania! Cam Talbot is red-hit, Marc-Andre Fleury captured his Minnesota debut, and the defense is blocking shots at a near-franchise record pace.

Just remember, Minnesota should not go far in the playoffs because none of the teams canters score very much, whether goal production or assists, even though the Wild is fourth in the NHL in scoring — a very strange combination.

Prediction: Until Philly shows anything of substance on the road, with such a high linem it’s a Puck Line play on the… WILD.

NY Islanders at Columbus NHL Pick Prediction 3/29/2022

Isles: The Boys from Belmont Park were slapped in the face worst than Will Smith did to Chris Rock at Sunday’s Academy Awards ceremony, as Tampa Bay came to the Island to secure a rather easy 4-1 triumph.

Thus, this is a measuring stick game for the Isles to stand up and show they are a contender in the East to end a 2-game losing streak.

Where is the blame? It could be in goal, as club management quietly recalled goalie Cory Schneider and added him to the Islanders’ roster from Bridgeport (AHL), then did not skate on Monday.

This side should be rested and primed for a bounce back.

Blue Jackets: Columbus got lucky after blue-liner Zach Werenski was nailed by a hard (barely legal) check in Minnesota the other night. It was a high, late hit after a shot, but there was no penalty. Still, the league is reviewing the play.

This leaves the Jackets with five defensemen and the AHL recall players (TBA) may not be in Ohio in time for this won.

Columbus owns more come-from-behind wins than any other NHL club, but being short on defense will make that stat hard to maintain.

Prediction: This is the first in a home-and-away seriees. CBJ won early in the season during NYI’s long road trip, but the Isles won the re-match, 6-0. The Islanders are more motivated and Columbus seems to be starting to drop their heads… ISLES.

In addition, CBJ is one of the best teams for an Over in the first period (40-22-4). In this game, the prop is at -130.

Ottawa at Nashville NHL Pick Prediction 3/29/2022

Senators: Ottawa owner Eugene Melnyk just died at age 62 — a story which was featured in Forbes Magazine.

Will this influence the your Sens?

The roster now includes the recent addition of Jake Sanderson, the fifth-overall draft pick from 2020. His father was Geoff Sanderson, a 17-year vet, mostly with the Hartford Whalers, plus seven other clubs.

It might be hard to “Win one for the Gipper” based on the number: Ottawa is 29th in offense, and 21st in defense in regards to total goals. They also play to the Over at a Top 10 rate.

The Senators are 2-5-1 SU (2-6 ATS) in L8 and might be ready to fade away into the summer golf season?

Predators: Nashville plays to the Over at the second-highest rate in the entire NHL. And they can get sloppy against lesser competition, so a Puck Line play is unwarranted.

The look-ahead is a 2-game series with Detroit, so there is no excuses here.

Prediction: Ottawa is going bye-bye, the Predators can call the score. Since the line is so high, it’s either the PREDS, the OVER, or a single-game, two-way parlay.

NY Rangers at Pittsburgh NHL Pick Prediction 3/29/2022

Rangers Chris Kreider, the Rangers’ Player of the Week, is pumping goals home at a generous pace, averaging 2.5 pers per contest.

Now sitting with 44 goals, lreider is on-target for 50 goals in his quest to become the fourth-ever Blue Shirts player to reach the milestone.

The record is 54 by Jaromír Jágr (2005-06).

BYR is 4-1 SU/ATS in L5, with a loss to New Jersey in a look-0ahead, then the stomping of Pittsburgh.

Oenguins::Talk about revenge. As we predicted here, Pittsburgh would (and did) blow out Detroit to avenger a sloppy loss at MSG to the rangers — now here is the true revenge spot!

PIT once was playing first period to the Over, but have gone 4-6 in L10 to the Under of late… until NYR exploded for three goals in the opening minutes over the weekend.

Usually, Pittsburgh plays a soft, early style, waiting for a mistake to counter-attack, a reason they score first as often as any team in the league.

Should that go to the wayside to get back at the Rangers, the Goals in First 10 Minutes prop is definitely in play.

Besides, New York is also an Over/1st 10 minutes club at 7-3 in L10.

Prediction: The line is high and the Puck Line play against the Rangers is unreasonable. Go OVER in boththe game and first-period Totals.

Montreal at Florida NHL Pick Prediction 3/29/2022

Canadiens: Every computer model said Toronto, but we offered Montreal as a top pick because of something professional handicappers hate: motivation.

I keep telling them that pro football and pro basketball are different hockey is more like college football.

And thus, to prove it again, in Montreal’s next game, we faded the Habs and took lowly New Jersey winner!

Now Montreal is back in crummy form: 5-5-3 SU 4-8 ATS), with no reason to play them here. Some say it’s a revenge spot, falling to Florida about a week ago, but we’re not interest.

Panthers: Florida leads the season series 2-0 win Quebec which came in the middle of a 7-game road trip.

It was an easy game for the Panthers to overlook or use the backup goalie, yet they still won to maintain their Atlantic Division lead.

That 7-game trip ended with a loss in Toronto, so it’s time to step back into form.

Oh, did we forget to mention it will be the Florida home debut of Claude Giroux from Philadelphia?

Prediction: The chalf is heavy for the Panthers and the Over. Perhaps a prop play, at +200, on Giroux scoring a goal sounds good and a better value.
