Seattle Kraken vs Los Angeles Kings Pick Prediction 3/28/2022
Kraken: What ever happened to Victor Rask. The forward disappeared to the AHL, but has been recalled as a third-line forward. In his first NHL action in more than a month, he played 18 uneventful minutes with a minus-1, so if they looked to Rash to aid with their scoring, uh, no.
According to analytics, Seattle is the side which benefits in playing back-to-back, but only major media (ESPN, e.g.) makes such bold statements, they’re usually wrong. And we try to ignore “the worldwide leader” whenever possible. Otherwise, we’d all be millionaires.
Vest example: because of COVID, St. Louis and Arizona played (at both sites) seven consecutive games last season. Seven!
Which team came out on top? Despite the Blues going off as the betting favorite each time, Arizona captured the series 4-3.

Kings: The surging L.A. Kings have moved four points clear of Edmonton for second place in the Pacific Division and with it the home-ice advantage over (for now) the Oilers in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Yes, Edmonton owns one game in-hand, but with L.A. playing Seattle, that means the Oilers will need one extra game just to get even. Thus, if this was baseball, L.A. actually hold a 2.5 game lead, not two.
This game is the second in a 2-game, baseball-type series, reflecting the shield utilized during last season’s pandemic. NHL general managers thought it was a good idea to try, so the league responded that they will try it with the Kraken to less effect the overall standings in case the experiment didn’t work. In a few days, Seattle will host Vegas in a two-game set.
The ins continue to rotate goalies — this time, it’s Jonathan Quick’s turn — and although Cal Petersen own slight better statistics, the victory totals will be tied with a Quick win here. Their GAA’s are just 0.02 apart.
L.A. is 3-1-1 SU and will cap a long string of home games. (a loss in Vegas came in the middle) before heading across the border.
Prediction: Quick has been notorious in giving away first-period goals, while Seattle always seems to be good for two goals a night — maybe more since they will take chances on offense and take more shots, which leave them open on the back end.
And since the chalk of L.A. is thicker that the smoggy skies used to be, we are going with a pair of OVER plays: a) yes, on a goal in the first 10 minutes prop; and b) Over 6.5 goals (instead of 6.0) where available at Even to slightly plus-money.
Buffalo Sabres vs Chicago Blackhawks Pick Prediction 3/28/2022
Sabres: Buffalo is on a roll at 3-0-2 SU (5-0 and 7-1 ATS).. and we’ve been on them the whole time!. Except for the road loss to Edmonton, they have been the most profitable club in March.
They’re taking a page from the Columbus playbook to just stay close and counter-attack when the opponent makes a mistake. The Sabres are young enough to play that way for 60 minutes, then are doing well in OT or shootouts.
On Sunday, they were twice down to the Rangers, yet earned a standings point. However, back-to-backers on the road will be difficult because Buffalo’s shot total in the second game is among the poorest in the league.
Blackhawks: We nailed Chicago’s game in Vegas, taking the Over and taking CHI at plus 1.5 goals as the only lead by VGK came on the game-winning goal in overtime.
Now, the Hawks are home and had a day off despite travelling from southern Nevada.
Against Vegas, The Blackhawks tallied two points each out of three skaters, including Alex DeBrincat (one goal, one assist) and Patrick Kane (two assists).
Prediction: Both sides are coming off 5-4 road losses in overtime. On the surface, we were looking at the Over, but if Buffalo’s projected shot total remains at 21-ish by several computer models, we’re going against hte public and will go UNDER 6 goals.
Arizona Coyotes vs Edmonton Oilers Pick Prediction 3/28/2022
Coyotes: Arizona earned another toad point, but it was heart-breaker when Winnipeg’s Mark Scheifele scored on a breakaway with 8 seconds left in overtime on Sunday.
Now it’s a back-to-back for the Zoniers, one category Arizona has not done well in. Plus, they are on an 0-4-1 SU run (0-5 ATS).
Coyotes goalie goalie Karel Vejmelka was great in Winnipeg, but the AZ offense is no better than Seattle. The lone goal saw Nick Ritchie register a tying goal in the third period.
Oilers: Does Edmonton really care about catching Los Angeles for the home-ice advantage to the playoffs, or would they rather fall to fourth and meet arch-villain Calgary?
By looks of their recent 1-3 SU/ATS mark last week, it could be the second options, which might give the Oil and better chance of winning without the travel.
Plus, this could be a look-ahead spot with L.A. coming to town, so back0up goalie Mike Smith may be in the net.
Prediction: There are too many segments to the Edmonton game which need sorting out. That should happen about an hour before the puck drops, but until then, I don’t guess, instead I elect to… PASS>

Vancouver Canucks vs St. Louis Blues Pick Prediction 3/28/2022
Canucks: Vancouver caught Dallas in a look-ahead with a 4-1 win, which should keep St. Louis focused.
The Canuks are playing better defense in front of Thacher Demko, who could be an all-start goalie for another club.
Local media reports that Swede Elias Pettersson’ is coming round after a year-long wrist injury.
Many of the top prospects are playing with confidence — the future of The Vans looks promising but we’ve heard that before.
However, the numbers agree 2-0-2 SU and 4-0 ATS last week 7-3-3 SU and 10-3 ATS this month — I can think of poorer betting options than the Canucks.
Blues: This is the first of a home-away-series with Vancouver; St. Louis travels to the Canadian Southwest on Wednesday.
Since losing to Ottawa, the Blues are 1-3-2 SU (1-5 ATS) at home, as St. Louis starts its annual swoon over the final 20 games — except their Stanley Cup season, which I am still trying to figure out.
Dallas already tolf them to look out, but the confidence factor sways toward Vancouver.
And it doesn’t matter id it’s a low- or high-scoring game.
Prediction: The lean is toward Vancouver, but to be safe, on the +1.5 Puck Line. The better option (where available): play on the BLUES to miss the playoffs at +124 or better.
Carolina Hurricanes vs Washington Capitals Pick Prediction 3/28/2022
Hurricanes: I hate games like this where reputable website like HockeyReference.com wont make a stand and call it a 505-0 game — make a stand and select a team, 51-to-49!
Ever since a9-1-1 SU (10-1 ATS) run, the Canes have gone 2-3-2 SU (2-5 ATS), as the scoring has fallen from grace until they won in St. Louis, 7-2, over the weekend.
One game is not a streak, but we love head coach Rod Brind’amour, even though he over-works his players.
Also one can never go wrong wagering on the No. 1 team in the National League in goals against.
Capitals: Is Washington’s focus on getting 50 goals for Alex Ovechkin, or trying to win to get into third place and avoid playing Carolina (or Florida) in the first round of the playoffs?
This contest could be an indication.
The Caps are playing well — 6-2 SU/ATS — but four of the wins came in overtime (three in shootouts).
Prediction: Both sides will be trying to “send a message,” especially if they meet in the first round of postseason play. Tighter games means less scoring, so I will take the UNDER.
Okay, I will not whimp out! My preference for the side is Carolina. Besides, it’s a good value price for the Canes on the road
