TCU Horned Frogs vs Arizona Wildcats 3/20/2022 Picks Predictions Previews

The #9 TCU Horned Frogs will meet with the #1 Arizona Wildcats in a Men’s Basketball Championship – South Region – 2nd Round clash in Viejas Arena At Aztec Bowl, San Diego, CA, on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at 9:40 PM (EDT).

TCU improved to 21-12 on the year after a 69-42 win over Seton Hall in the opening round of the South Region tournament. The victory was a major statement for a Horned Frogs club that went 4-6 in their final ten matches of the season.

TCU’s defense capped off a statement performance by holding Seton Hall to just 29 percent shooting for the game. The Horned Frogs had their lowest point total against them all season, at 42 points. TCU was led by Mike Miles Jr., who had a game-high 21 points, and Damien Baugh, who had 14 points and six assists.

TCU led 30-21 at halftime before going on a 17-3 run to put the game away early in the second half. Seton Hall was never able to close the gap to less than 20 points in the last minutes, and the final score was the game’s greatest margin. Seton Hall was outrebounded 39-26 by TCU.

When out-rebounding their opponent, the Frogs improved to 19-7 this year. TCU is generating 68 points per game and shooting 44 percent from the field this season.

They aren’t particularly good from long range, making only 31% of their 3-point attempts this season and posting only 5.5 per game. The Frogs average over 14 turnovers per game, which can be a concern.

  • The TCU Horned Frogs are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 matches.
  • The total went UNDER in 5 of TCU’s last 5 matches this season.
  • The total went OVER in 5 of TCU’s last 6 matches in the Pac-12 Conference.

TCU Horned Frogs vs Arizona Wildcats Predictions 3/20/2022

The Wildcats‘ first-round victory over Wright State had a routine feel about it. As Arizona toyed with the inferior Raiders’ squad, the game nearly appeared to be a dress rehearsal for them. The Wildcats climbed to 32-3 with the 87-70 victory over Wright State, their seventh one in a row.

The Wildcats led by 11 points at halftime and extended their lead to over 20 points on many occasions, but they appeared bored each time, allowing the Raiders to pull to within 12 or 13 points before embarking on another run.

In a matchup that wasn’t as close as the final score, Arizona shot 55 percent from the floor overall and 55 percent from the 3-point range.

Christian Koloko led Arizona with 17 points, nearly entirely on dunks, and 13 rebounds. Dalen Terry added 16 points to Benedict Mathurin’s 18 points. Wright State was outrebounded 46-25 by the Wildcats. The statistics sheet for Arizona is littered with superlatives.

The Wildcats are 3rd in points per game, 6th in offensive efficiency, and 3rd in shooting percentage on offense. Arizona is also top in assists per game and sixth in total rebounding percentage.

  • The total went OVER in 6 of Arizona’s previous 7 matches.
  • The University of Arizona Wildcats is 5-0 SU in their last 5 matches this season.
  • The total went UNDER in 7 of Arizona’s last 8 matches in the Big 12 Conference.

#9 TCU Horned Frogs vs #1 Arizona Wildcats. The NCAAB pick for this game is the #1 Arizona Wildcats. After the Wildcats’ sterling performance in the preliminary round, Arizona can get down to business. They’re a high-level club on both ends with a high-octane attack and a pair of 7-footers who can guard the rim.

TCU had a good season and is a good defensive club, but I don’t see how they can keep up with Arizona for 40 minutes. They might even hang for the first 20 minutes, if not the first 30 minutes, but the Wildcats are deep and tenacious.

The Wildcats are expected to get their starting point guard, Kerr Kriisa, back in the lineup. With Kriisa back in the lineup, the Wildcats will not go above 15 turnovers in this game. Arizona is simply too much for the Horned Frogs in every way, even if he is held out of another game. The #1 Arizona Wildcats will win by a predicted score of 77-66.
