The number 16 seeded Wright State Raiders will meet number 1 seeded Arizona Wildcats for a first-round Men’s Basketball Championship on Friday, March 18 at 7:27 pm ET at the Viejas Arena at Aztec Bowl in San Diego.

The Arizona Wildcats are the Pac-12 Champions after defeating the UCLA Bruins last Saturday.  Arizona overcame a 5-point deficit at the half by posting 49 points in the second half for the 84-76 victory.  Bennedict Mathurin scored the highest with 27 points.  Dalen Terry added 15 points while Christian Koloko had 13 points and 10 rebounds. 

 

The Wildcats edged the Bruins in rebounding, 39-32 but were forced to turn over the ball 13 times.  Arizona was 51.9% in shooting, 9% more than UCLA.  They made 7 of 14 three-pointers and made 23 of 28 free throws. 

 

This season, the Wildcats recorded an average of 84.6 ppg which is top 4, 41.4 rebounds per game which is top 12, and 19.9 assists per game which is the top 3 in NCAA Men’s Basketball.

 

Bennedict Mathurin leads with an average of 17.4 ppg.  Christian Koloko leads in field goal attempts at 62.5%, 7.1 rpg, and 2.7 blocks per game.  Kerr Kriisa leads with 4.9 assists while Dalen Terry leads with 1.2 steals per game.
