Tulane Green Wave vs Houston Cougars 3/12/2022 Picks Predictions Previews

The Tulane Green Wave will go against the #18 Houston Cougars in an American Athletic Conference Semifinal clash in Dickies Arena Fort Worth, TX, on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 3:00 PM (EST). Tulane moved to 14-14 on the year with a 69-60 victory against Temple in the AAC Tournament quarterfinals.

In the win, the Green Wave shot 52 percent from the field and 33 percent from the three-point range. Tulane’s defense held the Owls to a 28 percent overall shooting percentage and a 30 percent long-range shooting percentage.

Sion James had a tremendous game, scoring 9 points, dishing out 9 assists, and registering a stunning 5 blocks. He made four of his four field goals. Kevin Cross topped the Green Wave in scoring with 18 points and 9 rebounds.

For the huge win, DeVon Baker added 15 points while Jaylen Forbes added 12 points and 9 rebounds of his own. Tulane tallied 30 points in the paint, while Temple only had 16.

Tulane lost both matches against Houston this season. They were defeated by an 11-point margin on the road and by a 14-point margin at home. Despite the fact that both losses were by huge digits, the Green Wave stayed in there given the Cougars’ AAC dominance this season.

The Green Wave were down 11 in the first half of the first game but matched the Cougars evenly in the second half. In both games, the Cougars’ defense held the Green Wave attack in check, limiting Tulane to a total of 37 percent shooting.

  • The University of Green Wave is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Saturday matches.
  • Tulane is 10-3 ATS in their last 13 matches overall.
  • The total went over in 8-2 of Green Wave’s last 10 matches overall.

Tulane Green Wave vs Houston Cougars Predictions 3/12/2022

When the season began, the Houston Cougars were precisely where they intended to be. They’re in the semifinals of their league tournament, chasing a league title and a good NCAA Tournament seed. They didn’t anticipate doing all of this without two of their top scorers, though.

The Cougars, on the other hand, adapted and adjusted, and their versatility was on display in their quarterfinal victory over Cincinnati. After falling down 32-27 at halftime, the Cougars rallied, adjusted, and relied on their senior big man, Damian White, in the second half to pull away from the Bearcats and victory 69-56.

The Cougars did what they do best in their two victories against Tulane this season: suffocate the Green Wave’s offense and force poor shots. In the two matches, the Cougars shot 48 percent of the time and made 18 three-point field goals.

The number of fouls Houston committed in the two matches, permitting the Green Wave to collect over 40 free throws combined, was one source of worry.

  • The University of Cougars is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 neutral-site matches.
  • The Cougars are 5-1 ATS in their previous 6 matches overall.
  • The total went under in 4-0-1 of the Cougars’ last 5 matches overall.

Tulane Green Wave vs #18 Houston Cougars. The NCAAB pick for this game is the #18 Houston Cougars. The beauty of the Cougars’ domination this year, particularly in the AAC, is that they are dominating comfortably. They are rated 5th overall by KenPom, with the 14th and 13th most efficient offense and defense, respectively.

Because Houston does not have a big bench, the top six players are extremely well-conditioned and dominating. The Cougars have the best field goal percentage defense in the country, and Tulane’s offense isn’t capable of countering that.

Houston’s depth will come back to bother them against deeper, more skilled teams, as I’ve stated previously, but Tulane is not one of those teams. Houston will dictate the tempo, challenge shots, and pull away by scoring easy points in the lane. The no.18 Houston Cougars will win by a predicted score of 74-61.
