The New Mexico State Aggies and the Dixie State Trailblazers will battle in Western Athletic action on Wednesday, February 16 at 9:00 pm ET at the Pan American Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico. 


The New Mexico State Aggies lead the Western Athletic Conference with Seattle U Redhawks, dropped to 10-2, and are 20-4 overall.  The Dixie State Trailblazers improved to 5-7, are ninth-place in the conference, and 12-13 overall. 


The Dixie State Trailblazers snapped their three-game losing streak when they defeated the Grand Canyon Antelopes at 61-60 last Saturday.  Dixie State overcame a 2-point deficit in the first half to secure a 1-point victory. 


Hunter Schofield converted a three-point play with 17 seconds left in the game and finished with 18 points and 9 rebounds.  Dancell Leter added 15 points. 


Dixie State was shot 38.3%, 6% more than Grand Canyon.  They made 4 of 21 from beyond the arc and 11 of 15 free throws.  The Trailblazers were edged by the Antelopes in rebounding 43-45 and committed 12 turnovers.

The New Mexico State Aggies fell 68-72 against the Utah Valley Wolverines which snapped their five-game winning streak.  Last Saturday, the Aggies were 9-points behind the Wolverines at the end of the first half which was too much for the Aggies to overcome despite scoring 45 points in the second half.   


Teddy Allen was the highest scorer with 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.  Mike Peake had 16 points, while Jabari Rice finished with 10 points.  The Aggies shot 44.3%, 3% less than the Wolverines.  They made 4 of 20 in 3-pts and only 10 of 20 in free throws.  They were outrebounded 36-37 but forced Utah Valley to turnover the ball 14 times. 


As a team, the Aggies are averaging 74.5 ppg which is 104th.  The team makes 38.4 rebounds per game which is tied for 72nd and 13.8 assists per game is 161st in the league. 


Teddy Allen leads the Aggies with an average of 19.8 ppg, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game.  Sir’Jabari Rice leads with 3.3 assists per game.  Will McNair Jr. is the leader with 54.2% shooting while Johnny McCants leads with 1.6 blocks per game.
