The 11th ranked Illinois Fighting Illini represented the University of Illinois in the 2020-21 NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament led by fourth-year head coach Brad Underwood.

The Fighting Illini practiced and played their home games at State Farm Center in Champaign, Illinois under the umbrella of the Big Ten Conference. Illinois finished second in the Big Ten Conference with a 16-4 conference and a 24-7 overall standing last season.

The Fighting Illini won the Big Ten Tournament after they shut down Rutgers (90-68), Iowa (82-71), and Ohio State (91-88). After the B-10 Tournament victory, Illinois acquired an automatic qualification in the NCAA Tournament as the no.1-seeded in the Midwest region.

The Fighting Illini eliminated Drexel at 78-49 in the NCAA Tournament-First Round before a disappointing loss to the 8th-seeded Loyola Chicago at 58-71 in the Second Round.

Illinois will look different this season after beefing up their 2022 line-up to go back to the NCAA Tournament and compete for a national title. Andre Curbelo will enter the 2022 season as the starting no.1 guard while no.2 guard Alfonso Plummer will provide the needed shot that the Illini needs after losing Ayo Dosunmu and Adam Miller.

Trent Frazier will fill up the no.3 guard position while Jacob Grandison will take the no.4 Guard/Forward position. Omar Payne will complete the starting line-up as the starting center for the Orange and Blue team.
