The Siena Saints are preparing to meet the No. 23 ranked St. Bonaventure Bonnies in NCAA basketball action at the Reilly Center, St. Bonaventure in New York this Tuesday night.

The Siena Saints concluded the 2020-21 NCAA Division I men’s basketball season with a 12-5 record. The Saints were led by Carmen Maciariello in his second year as head coach. In the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, the team managed to post a 12-4 mark, which earned them the No. 1 seed in the tournament.

Siena was able to make it as far as first place, where they finished in a tie, but lost to the ninth seed Iona Gaels by a close score of 52-55.

Returning seniors to the team are Michael Baer, Nick Hopkins, Robert Mahala, Jackson Stormo, and Michael Tertsea. While five older players are making a comeback, two others have ended up on the injured list and may not be able to participate in the games just yet.

At the end of the St. Bonaventure Bonnies, the team finished the previous season with a 16-5 record under the supervision of head coach Mark Schmidt in his 14th year.

Furthermore, the team participated in the Atlantic 10 Conference, in which they finished with an 11-4 mark to claim the championship of the regular season. The Bonnies swept through Duquesne Dukes, the Saint Louis Billikens, and the VCU Rams.
