The 2021-22 NCAAB Men’s Basketball preseason action will take off when the Bellarmine Knights and the 7th ranked Purdue Boilermakers meet at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at 7:00 PM ET.

 

Bellarmine University is an NCAA Division I men’s basketball team and played their home outings at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky. The Bellarmine Knights finished the 2021 season in 2nd place at 14-8 in the ASUN Conference with a 10-3 conference standing.

 

The Knights acquired the second seed in the ASUN Tournament but lost the quarterfinal round to the Stetson Hatters. Bellarmine got an invitation to the College Basketball Invitational games where the Knights eliminated Army in the quarterfinals but bowed to Pepperdine in the semi-final round.

 

The 2020-21 NCAAB season marked the Bellarmine Knights’ first year of a four-year transition period from Division II to Division I team category. In that case, the Knights were disqualified in the NCAAB Men’s Basketball postseason play but allowed to enter the ASUN Tournament.

 

Three key players will be returning to power the 2021-22 Bellarmine Knights roster led by F Lauren Deel who dominated the defense with 15 blocks, ranked second in FG percentage at 46.1, and ranked 3rd in scoring with 9 PPG.

 

F Sheniqua Coatney led the rebounding at 5.7 RPG (43 offensive rebounds) with FG percentage at 47.4 and 4th in scoring at 8.3 PPG. Guard Kathleen Scott led Bellarmine in assists at 2.5 per match with an average of 5.6 PPG. The Roster will be composed of 5 seniors, 2 juniors, 5 sophomores, and 3 freshmen (new recruits) this season.

Bellarmine Knights vs Purdue Boilermakers Predictions 11/9/2021

 

The 7th ranked Purdue Boilermakers enter the 2021-22 season to bounce back after losing the quarterfinal round of the Big Ten Tournament to Ohio State.

 

Purdue joined in the 2020-21 NCAA Division I men’s basketball under head coach Matt Painter in his 16th season in the position with the Boilermakers. Purdue played in their home court at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Indiana as a member of the Big Ten Conference.

 

The Boilermakers concluded last season in 4th place at 18-10 in the Big Ten Conference with a 13-6 conference standing. The Purdue Boilermakers earned their free bid to the NCAA Tournament as the 4th-seeded in the South region but were routed in the first round by 13th-seeded North Texas.

 

The Boilermakers’ 2021-22 NCAAB roster will be led by top-scorer F Trevion Williams who will return for his senior season with an average of 15.5 PPG and 9.1 RPG. Williams will be joined by a couple of high-level in-state recruits in Forwards Trey Kaufman and Caleb Furst.

 

Other players to compose the Boilers’ line-up are sophomore Guard Jaden Ivey who scored 26 points in the NCAA tournament, 7-foot-4 Center Zach Edey will control the backboard, and Mason Gillis at the forward position.
