The 5th ranked Michigan State Spartans (8-0) are on their way to challenge the Purdue Boilermakers (5-3) in week 10 of the Big Ten college football battle at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 3:30 PM ET.

 

Michigan State started the season with a 7-0 record before the Spartans took a break in week 9 and returned with a victory over the 9th ranked Michigan team.

 

MSU also defeated Northwestern (38-21), Youngstown State (42-14), Miami-FL (38-17), Nebraska (23-20) in OT, Western Kentucky (48-31), Rutgers (31-13), and Indiana (20-15) in the series. Michigan State took 2nd place in the Big Ten Conference East Division with a 5-0 conference and an 8-0 overall standings this season.

 

The Spartans were left behind by the Wolverines at 14-23 halftime lead but managed to get back in the final half heading to their impressive 37-33 comeback triumph. MSU was outgained by Michigan at 396 to 552 yards of total offense but the Spartans’ rushing attack dominated the game with an explosive 5 touchdowns in the victory.

 

QB Payton Thorne completed 19 of his 30 pass attempts for 196 yards with 2 interceptions while RB Kenneth Walker controlled the ground offense with 23 carries for 197 rushing yards and nailed 5 touchdowns in triumph.

 

WR Jayden Reed contributed 6 grabs for 80 receiving yards in the winning effort for Michigan State. LB Quavaris Crouch controlled the backfield for the Spartans with 7 solos and 6 assisted tackles while CB Charles Brantley added 4 solo tackles with an interception in reinforcing the defensive line.

The Purdue Boilermakers will try to defend their home field from the invading Spartans team after a 28-23 victory over Nebraska. Purdue is in 3rd place in the Big Ten Conference West Division with a 3-2 conference and a 5-3 overall standing this season.

 

The Boilermakers trailed a 14-17 lead at halftime but managed to gain 14 points while limiting the Cornhuskers to just 6 points in the second half resulting in their 5-point win at 28-23 last game out.

 

Purdue struggled after allowing 399 yards of total offense to Nebraska while gaining just 349 total offensive yards but nailed 24 first downs in the win. The Boilermakers committed 3 penalties for 30 yards while the Cornhuskers recorded 4 for 38 yards.

 

QB Aidan O’Connell passed for 233 yards on 76% completion of his attempts and scored two touchdown passes. RB King Doerue rushed for 74 yards on 17 carries in leading the running game while WR Demetress Bell grabbed 9 passes for 74 receiving yards in the winning effort.

 

LB Kieren Douglas led the defensive line with 5 solos and 2 assisted tackles while DE Kydran Jenkins added 6 tackles with a sack in augmenting the backfield.
