Grambling State Tigers vs Houston Cougars Predictions 9/18/2021

The Houston Cougars will be hosting their third match scheduled against the Grambling State Tigers on Saturday. Houston played well in the first half of their season opener battle against the Texas Tech Raiders but their offense failed and they were scoreless in the final half of the contest. However, the Cougars bounced back with an impressive 393 total offensive yards and scored 44 points in beating the Rice Owls in week 2 of college football action on Saturday. Houston dominated the offense with 249 passing and 144 rushing yards for 5.8 yards per play after finishing 68 total plays. The Cougars posted 23 first downs and 8/13 3rd down efficiency. Houston secured 6th place in the American Athletic Conference with a 1-1 overall standing.

QB Clayton Tune played well after completing 22 of his 30 pass attempts for 236 yards and scored two touchdowns with zero interceptions. Tune also rushed for 49 yards on 9 carries while RB Alton McCaskill led the running game with 14 attempted rushes for 40 yards and landed two touchdowns. In leading the receiving corps, WR Nathaniel Dell hauled down 7 passes for 87 yards while McCaskill added 4 receptions for 51 yards and nailed one touchdown. DL Latrell Bankston controlled the backfield for the Cougars with 7 total tackles and a sack.

Grambling State Tigers vs. Houston Cougars. The NCAAF Pick for this outing is Houston. Not considering their second-half performance in their loss versus Texas Tech, the Cougars can be considered a solid team after they controlled the Rice Owls at 44-7 in their second outing this season. Grambling State is much weaker than Rice and the Tigers don’t have a strong offense that could penetrate the tough defense of Houston. The prediction: The Houston Cougars will win at 54-3.
