Northern Iowa settled in 2nd place in the FCS Missouri Valley Football Conference with a 6-2 conference and 10-5 overall standing. The Panthers gained a total of 315 points while losing 265 for a +50 point difference. WR Isaiah Weston caught 43 passes for 1,053 yards with 70 long receptions and landed 10 touchdowns in leading the receiving group. Beefing up the backfield for the Panthers, DB Christian Jegen posted 15 total tackles while DB Omar Brown added six interceptions for Northern Iowa.

The Iowa State Cyclone topped the Big 12 Conference and ranked 9th in FBS with an 8-1 conference and 9-3 overall record. Iowa State won five games at home with three road victories while collecting a total of 395 points and gave up 257 for a point difference of +138. The Cyclones will be bringing back the whole team to make the best value in the Big 12 Conference this season after they failed in the 2020 Conference Championship.
