The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns are set to meet the Texas Longhorns this Saturday at the DKR Texas Memorial Stadium in NCAA football action.  The Ragin’ Cajuns concluded last season at 10-1 and 7-1 during the Sun Belt games, which propelled the team in the West Division.  The Texas Longhorns, on the other hand, completed the 2020 season at 7-3 and 5-3 during the Big 12 games, where they were able to participate in the Alamo Bowl, defeating Colorado at 55-23.

The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns made their appearance at the 2020 First Responder Bowl, which marked their last game for the season.  They went toe-to-toe with the UTSA Roadrunners and went home victorious.  Levi Lewis, the Ragin’ Cajun’s quarterback, made a comeback for the fifth time to make sure the team gives the title of the Sun Belt’s best offense another go.

As a starter, Lewis bears a record of 24-4 and is already considered at par with their school’s most accomplished passers.  The quarterback covered a total of 2,274 passing yards and 54 career touchdowns.  Running back Elijah Mitchell was able to gain 878 rushing yards last season.  This year, however, the team will be facing an obstacle following his departure for the bigger league.  Filling in for his shoes is sophomore Chris Smith, who has made limited touches matter.  Over the past couple of years, Smith was able to garner a total of 1,639 all-purpose yards as a receiver, a rusher, and a return man.
