The Milwaukee Brewers will play the first game of their three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds in Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati, on Friday, May 21, 2021, at 7:10 PM (EDT). The Brewers have now lost back-to-back meetings against the Royals, slipping below .500 at 21-22 and plummeting to third place, four games behind. Milwaukee’s offense is one of the worst in baseball this season, averaging 3.65 runs per game and batting just .213, respectively, ranking 27th and 29th in the league. Key players like Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain were injured, but they are fit and expected to participate.

It prompted players like Avisail Garcia to step up to the plate, and he did it admirably, hitting .250 with six home runs to lead the team. Travis Shaw, the squad’s third baseman, also had a strong start to the season, leading the team with 24 RBIs and five home runs. Despite his struggles to remain healthy, Yelich is hitting .300 and failed to hit a long run in his first 12 games of the season. Adrian Houser will take the mound for the Brewers and he pitched well in his eight starts, going 3-4 with a 3.63 ERA.

  • The Milwaukee Brewers are 1-5 SU in their last 6 matches.

  • The Milwaukee Brewers are 1-4 SU in their last 5 matches against Cincinnati.

  • The Milwaukee Brewers are 4-12 SU in their last 16 matches this season.

Milwaukee Brewers vs Cincinnati Reds Predictions 5/21/2020

The Reds were swept at home by the Giants in a four-game series, losing the last game 19-4 and dropping to 19-23, falling 5.5 games back in the NL Central. Cincinnati, despite their struggles, has been one of the best offenses in the MLB averaging 5.1 runs per game and hitting .249 as a team, both ranking in the top-5 of Major League Baseball.

Nick Castellanos has been one of the best players in the NL this season, coming in fifth in the MLB in batting average hitting .347 with 11 home runs and 27 RBIs. Jesse Winker has also been a big bat hitting .338 with 8 homers and 23 RBIs.

The right-hander Jeff Hoffman will get the ball for the Reds, he’s had an up and down start to the year going 2-3 with a 4.67 ERA. He has struggled in his last three starts pitching just a combined 10 ?, allowing 9 runs, and striking out just 13 while walking six. Hoffman had the worst year of his career last season and has a career 6.17 ERA.

  • The total went OVER in 8 of Cincinnati’s last 12 matches.

  • The total went UNDER in 5 of Cincinnati’s last 7 matches against Milwaukee.

  • The Cincinnati Reds are 2-6 SU in their last 8 matches this season.

Both these teams have had some recent struggles with the Brewers losing back to back to the Royals and the Reds being swept at home by the Giants, but I expect the Reds bats to heat back up and lead them to a win. Houser struggled in his last outing, and this isn’t a lineup you want to face without your best stuff. Although Hoffman isn’t an ace, the Reds bats provide plenty of run support and Cincinnati wins as a home underdog. Final score prediction, Reds win 5-4.
