San Jose St at Boise St—Free pick is San Jose St +12. Spartans have a bye week to get ready for Boise St while the Broncos return home after failing to cover at Hawaii late Saturday night. They did allow 32 points to the Rainbows. Broncos have surrendered 30 or greater points in three of four games. On the year, the team surrenders 394 yards per game. San Jose St an undefeated team defending well holding teams to 3.6 per rush. Senior transfer quarterback Nick Starkel is completing 70% of his throws for 9.2 yards per rush. Boise St is allowing 4.6 yards per rush so play action can work with a quarterback who is accurate downfield. Play San Jose St +12.

Rutgers at Purdue—College football pick is Rutgers Scarlet Knights +11.5. Must look at Rutgers differently now with Greg Schiano as head coach. He has made this team competitive and playing hard despite what the scoreboard reads. They have covered both of their road games all as an underdog. Purdue has failed to cover three of four. They likely will be without starting quarterback Aiden O’Connell. Plummer did show ability last week against Minnesota, but teams now have film on him and Schiano is a defensive minded coach. Boilermakers also lose their top tackler from last year George Karlaftis to COVID. Play Rutgers +11.5.

Memphis allows 477 yards with 32 points and Navy 445 yards with 37 points. Navy has shown improvement to their offense as they gather experience. Last week the Midshipmen had 37 points and 430 yards. Two weeks ago, 21 points with 372 yards on Houston. Their defense was gashed by these two passing teams surrendering an average of 44 points. LSU at Texas A&M—College football pick is LSU Tigers +14.5. Must respect the Tigers bounce back beating Arkansas last week. Quarterback TJ Finley had good performances against Arkansas and South Carolina. Aggies are an inconsistent team. There are those flat offensive performances like they had against Mississippi St and Vanderbilt. That has been Texas A&M quarterback Kelly Mond in his career. Last week the Gamecocks were held to 10 points to Missouri and three weeks back only three points scored on Texas A&M. It will be tough for South Carolina to score against this Bulldogs defense.
