The Orioles had a very disappointing 2019 season recording 54-108. The record left Baltimore at the very bottom of the AL East which hindered them from reaching the playoffs once again. The expectations for what the Orioles can bring this season is pretty low, the reason mainly is the lack of talent in their roster. Chris Davis used to be a very good baseball player, and he can still play, but he still needs to improve some more. Davis only managed 55 hits in 307 at bats last season with the Orioles. The Orioles have a young squad within them and are hoping that their talents will shine this season.

The Orioles played three summer exhibition games this week. They started strong on Sunday with a 4-1 win over Philadelphia, but they get the momentum for a win streak. Baltimore lost 4-2 on Monday, and 6-4 on Tuesday. For Friday’s season opener the Orioles are starting with Tommy Milone. Baltimore’s initial pick to start was Johnny Means, unfortunately he was sidelined due to arm fatigue. Milone’s record last season was 4-10 with a 4.76 earned run average and 94 strikeouts in 111.2 innings when he played with the Seahawks.

The Boston Red Sox seem different this year since Mookie Betts is no longer with the team. The team still looks promising and most of the players are healthy aside from Dustin Pedroia who is still out indefinitely. Boston’s offense is looking good with J.D Martinez leading the way during the preseason. The Red Sox were scheduled two home games this week against the Blue Jays. Boston failed to get the victory in Tuesday’s opener at 8-6. Unfortunately the rematch on Wednesday was cancelled due to the bad weather condition.

Nathan Eovaldi will be the opener for Friday’s opening game. Last season Eovaldi was mostly out of the bullpen sitting at a 2-1 record with 5.99 ERA. His record against the Orioles is at 3-1 with 5.62 ERA in nine starts. His career stats with Boston is 5-2 with a 4.92 ERA.
