Buffalo Bills vs. Houston Texans Pick Prediction 1/4/2020
Bills at Texans—NFL pick is Houston Texans -2.5. Tough to back Buffalo as the team went 1-4 straight up against playoff teams. They have scored no greater than 17 points in any of those games against playoff teams. Their lone win came against Tennessee 14-7 when the Titans had Marcus Mariota at quarterback. Buffalo offense has produced 268 yards or fewer in Week 14, 15 and 16 games. That sat starters in Week 17 in their loss to the Jets at home. Buffalo offense is 24th on third down. Houston picked up clutch wins late at home to New England and at Tennessee which helped the Texans clinch the AFC South division. Texans have the better passing offense behind DeShaun Watson who has completed 67.3% of his passes with 26 touchdowns and 12 picks. Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen has not been accurate of late as in his past four games is completing only 48.4% of his passed with 5.2 yards pass attempt. Play Houston -2.5.
Tennessee Titans vs. New England Patriots Pick Prediction 1/4/2020
Titans at Patriots—NFL free pick is Tennessee Titans +5. Patriots a team that usually peaks down the stretch has not done that this season. They have failed to cover four of their past five games after a 27-24 home defeat to Miami which cost the Patriots a bye in the first round. Head coach Bill Belichick set the tone early last week reporting that New England was going to treat the Dolphins game as a playoff game. The defense which has looked good early in the season really performed at their worst in Week 17 allowing a season high 389 yards and 327 passing yards. New England defense looked very slow in their defeat to Miami. Patriots offense finished in the lower half of the league on third down and red zone. Tennessee saw improvement offensively when quarterback Ryan Tannehill took over for an ineffective Marcus Mariota. Tannehill completed 70.3% of his passes with 22 touchdowns and 6 picks. New England has lacked playmakers this season. His completion rate was 60.8% and only 6.6 yards per pass attempt. Titans should be confident in this spot as they blew out New England at home last season 34-10 running for 150 yards. This season Titans did a good job on the ground with 5 yards per rush average to compliment Tannehill who has been accurate this season. Play Tennessee +5.
Minnesota Vikings vs. New Orleans Saints Pick Prediction 1/5/2020
Vikings at Saints—Free pick is Minnesota Vikings +8. Minnesota running back Dalvin Cook said he will play on Sunday after missing two weeks to recover from a shoulder injury. Cook is key for a Vikings running attack the averages 133 yards per game with 4.5 yards per rush. That opens the passing attack for veteran Kirk Cousins who has completed 69.1% of his passes this season with 26 touchdowns and 6 picks. Vikings have been good in the red zone ranking second in the league. Saints defense against playoff teams this season allowed 397 yards to the Titans, 516 yards to the 49ers, 514 to the Seahawks and 414 yards to the Texans. Vikings generate enough offense to cover this big number. Play Minnesota +8.
Seattle Seahawks vs. Philadelphia Eagles Pick Prediction 1/5/2020
Seahawks at Eagles—NFL pick is Philadelphia Eagles +2. With the NFC East division on the line the Eagles took care of business winning four straight including a huge 17-9 win to Dallas in Week 16. During this win streak the Eagles have allowed an average of 17.5 points per game. Seattle has lost three of their past four games as they lose back to back home games to the Cardinals and 49ers. Seahawks defense is not in good form as in their past three games giving up 400 yards. They just lost a linebacker to an ACL injury to add to their problems. Seahawks were hit hard with injuries at running back losing all three starters as they patch up with players from the practice squad and from retirement. Eagles are the offensive in the better form as in their past three games averaging 415 yards per game. Quarterback Carson Wentz in the month of December is completing 66.2% of his throws with ten touchdowns and an interception. Seahawks defense rank 26th in the red zone. Season long the Eagles defense has been good on third down ranking fourth best. The offense fourth in the league on third down and third in the red zone. Despite injuries Carson Wentz have held the team up. Play Philadelphia +2.
