Thursday Night Football—Kansas City at Philadelphia
The Line: Kansas City favored by -3 points with an over under line set at 50 ½ points.
The Chiefs look improved. They hold Jacksonville to 2 points in week one they hold a pretty good Dallas Cowboys offense to 16 points last week and are 2-0 for Andy Reid. Big time game here as Andy Reid returns to Philadelphia.
The Eagles offense is a top three in passing, scoring and total offense. But their defense is near the bottom. They are giving up 30 points a game and allowed the Chargers to come out with a win. What do you make of this Philadelphia team with Chip Kelly’s offense?
Sunday NFL Football
Arizona Cardinals at New Orleans Saints
The Line: Saints favored by -9 points with an over under line of 49 points.
Saints nearly gave away a game to Tampa Bay last week but escaped with a 16-14 victory as a -3 point favorite. New Orleans were in position to turn this game into a blowout but too many mistakes and lack of execution nearly cost the Saints. First and goal at the inch line and you can score a touchdown on Tampa Bay near the half?
Arizona is an improved offense and is 1-1 and look better with Carson Palmer. You cannot fall asleep against the Cardinals team because they have some punch now on offense. My fear is a defensive let down after two real good defensive games. The Cardinals are allowing 286 yards passing this season so Brees should have a big game and you know they are not happy when the offensive is in the film room this week. Against a better team they lose last week. Can New Orleans keep the focus? After two divisional games to start the year the next one isn’t until November 21st at Atlanta as they close with four NFC South divisional game in their final six games.
Green Bay Packers at Cincinnati Bengals
The Line: Green Bay a +1 point road underdog with a total of 48 points.
You have to think a tough spot for Cincinnati coming off a short week against a division rival and physical hard hitting team like Pittsburgh. I don’t think you want a short week if your are an AFC team facing Aaron Rodgers who is a team and QB you face only once every four years.
The Packers road game came at San Francisco and they still couldn’t find any answers for Colin Kapernick. But Andy Dalton is a pocket passer but has some weapons in the passing game. Cincinnati finally has a solid run threat with rookie Giovanni Bernard.
Indianapolis at San Francisco
The Line: 49ers favored by -10 ½ points with a total of 46 points.
Both teams coming off losses here. Indy has trouble against power run teams last year if you remember the Jets blowing the snot out of the Colts last year. Can you fault San Francisco losing at Seattle last year? I don’t think any NFL team can win at Seattle right now.
I believe San Francisco tries to run the ball down the throat of the Colts defense. Issue with San Francisco has been their defensive play allowing an average of over 28 points a game to their past seven opponents.
Chicago Bears at Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday Night Football
The Line: Bears favored by -1 point on the road with a total of 40 ½ points.
Pittsburgh is a desperate 0-2 team but face a short week off a divisional loss. The Steelers offense looks terrible as they rank near the bottom of the league by producing 9 ½ points per game along with 236 yards. They are only running for 37 yards per contest. They are still good on defense but desperately need playmakers to make plays on offense.
Chicago has that Jekyl and Hyde look. They fall behind 21-10 in week one to Cincinnati and rally back for the win. They surivive many mistakes yet still defeat Minnesota last week at hme 31-30 as a -6 point favorite as Jay Cutler completes a 16 yard touchdown pass with 10 seconds remaining. Looking ahead the Bears have a divisional game at Detroit.
Oakland Raiders at Denver Broncos Monday Night Football
The Line: Denver favored by -14 ½ points with a total of 49 points.
You said last week if you are laying less than a touchdown with Denver they look like a good bet. They were last week and pounded the Giants I know you won’t ever lay any more than a touchdown in any NFL game. Here is another double digit favorite and their track record has not been good.
Oakland is 1-1 and playing better than expected. They controlled the game last week and defeat Jacksonville 19-9. In week one they go up and blow a game to the Colts. Big favorite high total on Monday Night Football. Last year Denver goes 2-0 against Oakland with a 37-6 home win as a -6 ½ point favorite and they go up to the Black Hole and win 26-13 as a -10 point road favorite. Each game went under 47 points because the Raiders had trouble scoring.
