NBA Playoff Betting Preview Game 2 Utah Jazz at LA Lakers
The LA Lakers look to take a 2-0 series lead in game 2 of their best of 7 NBA opening round playoff series with the Utah Jazz. Game time is set for Tuesday at the Staples Center at 10:30PM Eastern Time with TNT televising. The Lakers have been sent out by LVSC as an 11-½ point favorite with the over under coming in at 211 ½. The Lakers have seen the early action in the betting, as they are currently a 12-point favorite. The total has been bet up to 212 currently.
The Lakers defeated the Utah Jazz 113-100 in game 1 of their series on Sunday as a 12-point closing line favorite. LA stormed out to a 62-40-halftime lead over the Jazz. The Lakers shot 55% from the field in game 1 and the Jazz only 39%. The Jazz were without their forward-center Mehmet Okur in game 1 as he was sidelined with a strained hamstring. Okur will be a game time decision for game 2. The Jazz forward-center practiced on Monday and Jazz management notified reporters that his leg is about 70%. Okur averages 17 ½ points per game and 7 ½ rebounds but his presence is needed in the low post against Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol. The Jazz continues to have trouble winning and covering point spreads on the road. They are just 1-7 ATS in their past 8 road contests. The biggest issue with the Utah Jazz has been their defense as they have allowed opposing teams to hit on 50% or higher in 7 of their past 8 games. The only team to shoot less than 50% in that span was the lowly LA Clippers against the Jazz. In post game comments head coach Jerry Sloan commented that his team wasn’t nasty enough but the real issue is that they aren’t defending. In last years playoff series against the Lakers the Jazz looked a step slow against LA and once against the Lakers athleticism and conditioning seems to be an overwhelming advantage. The Lakers are now 10-2 ATS in their past 12 first round playoff games.
Trend: LA Lakers are 8-1-1 ATS in their past 10 meetings at Staples Center
